That's what it LOOKS like. It's actually men cooking.
4 men trying out for each women, eh? Hmmm....sounds like my dating history.
"will amuse woman for shiraz"
I love reading these types of articles. They always bring out the best in Freepers, LOL!
I'm a woman. I like being a woman. I have been a Soldier, a Soccer Mom, a million-dollar Business Manager/Accountant (not my own) and now a Bookseller, a Farmer and general all-round Entreprenuer. (I'm into those multiple streams of income.) Earning money has never been a problem, and there's only been one time in my life where I knew and could prove that I wasn't being paid what I was worth, and when the raise didn't come, I took another path...and made even MORE money. :)
Being a woman has had it's advantages and disadvantages in everything I've attempted. I work well alone, or on a team, but I'm more productive on my own. I do work better with men than with women, though. Maybe I have too much testosterone, but I don't understand what makes some women tick. I have zero patience with this "you hurt my feelings, but I'm not going to tell you why and there's nothing you can do about it because I'll always find some reason to be a ticked off victim" mentality.
So guys, you're not alone. Some of us females can't figure out other females, either. (Not ALL of 'em, just some of 'em! My four best girlfriends are all very much like me, and we've been through 25+ years and eight total marriages now, LOL!) ;)
I usually prefer scotch and a large bag of Cheez-its, but I'm willing to live adventurously.
Are you implying men are poor cooks?
I think the vast bulk of the worlds chefs, especially the best of the best would disagree with you. As would the all male Iron Chefs.
Oh, and my wife couldn't find the kitchen if and know what to do in it if her life depended on it.
Durn, homophonia again.
Having been a business owner with a lot of women employees, I can say they are very competitive, and manipulative. They would cut each other's throat and hang 'em up to bleed to death, if they could get away with it. Whine, whine, whine. It was pathetic, and I'm a woman too. LOL
scotch and Cheez-its?
my stomach roils.
fortunately, my fuel is Shiraz ;)
Najida is a belly dancer, too.

"Heh, I've seen quite a few men here on FR who would probably argue that women are masters at manipulating."
In all seriousness, and respect - it is what they do.
It can be a tremendous force for good!

There was a show on TV that was for the most part, a pretty bad show, where it had the bosses of two completely different compaines trade places for a time, and see what happened. One of the bosses was ths MCP (male chauvenist pig) owner of a performance car dealership, and the other was the owner of some sort of an advertising firm (I think... I'm not 100% sure what they did). This owner was a woman, and all her employees were women.
The car dealership had all men, and the environment was terribly competative. The ad agency was completely NON-competative, and the employees pretty much came and went as they felt. They even had weekly massages. At both businesses, there was a huge amount of distrust and animosity over the new "rules" as layed down by the new bosses.
The woman tried to make the car dealership a nicer place. The man tried to introduce competition. Interestingly enough, when the guy toned it down a bit, the women started to compete, and sales went way up, as did how much money the women were making. That drove them to sell even more, and sales and profits went through the roof.
When the show ended, you saw the car dealership going back to the way it was before the show started. However, the ad agency kept the competition, and the even hired a guy!

Simple. If men get nasty with each other, there is a very good possibility someone will end up bleeding.
Women, on the other hand, tend to resort with psychological violence against other women, and men who make them mad.
In forty years in the workforce, I have mostly worked with positive, cooperative men and women. Team players. But their have been exceptions --- back stabbers and people more than willing to "get to the top" (or where ever the hell they think they are going) by stepping on the faces of people they should be working with. Those individuals have been both men and women, and contrary to media stereotypes about American corporations, those individuals seldom succeed because they alienate the very people who's support is essential for success.
And unlike academia where tenure and grants are a zero sum game, corporate success creates a bigger pie for all to share. The incentives are toward cooperation. And when a corporate employee views their co-workers as competitors, they are probably going to fail miserably.
I never do.
good post.
There are other things such as tall handsome men, money, good friends, etc.
