Kerry's dodges (Form 180)
Washington Times ^ | 5-25-05 | Greg Pierce

Posted on 05/25/2005 6:36:37 AM PDT by kahoutek

Kerry's dodges "At this point, it comes as no surprise. John Kerry is releasing all his military records — but then again, he isn't," Boston Globe columnist Joan Vennochi writes.

"During an interview [Monday] with Globe editorial writers and columnists, the former Democratic presidential nominee was asked if [he] had signed Form SF 180, authorizing the Department of Defense to grant access to all his military records." the columnist said.

" 'I have signed it,' Kerry said. Then, he added that his staff was 'still going through it' and 'very, very shortly, you will have a chance to see it.' "The devil is usually in the details. With Kerry, it's also in the dodges and digressions. After the interview, Kerry's communications director, David Wade, was asked to clarify when Kerry signed SF 180 and when public access would be granted. Kerry first said he would sign Form 180 when pressed by Tim Russert during a Jan. 30 appearance on 'Meet the Press.' "Six months after Kerry's loss to George W. Bush, it feels somewhat gratuitous to point out how hard it can be to get a clear, straight answer from Kerry on this and other matters. But as long as the Massachusetts senator is thinking about another presidential run, the candor gap remains on the table, because he puts it there."

"On Friday, May 20, Kerry obtained a copy of Form 180 and signed it."

Tonk, I love that little detail about them "obtaining" a form. How many have you personally sent to them? 10,000? a fax a day? boxes of them? and you're not the only one. I can picture them hunting around the office, "now where is that form 180? Hey, has anyone seen a form one-eight-oh?" What a bunch of maroons.

And now he's signed it but he hasn't submitted it. WTF? Has Mama T's astrologer told him to wait for an auspicious day or something?

His staff "is going through it", which most likely actually means that his staff has gone through Kerry's actual military record and Kerry signed a form 180 which was annotated so as to identify the specific records that Kerry is agreeing to release, and no others. You can be sure that there is no way that Kerry will allow his absolute complete military records to be released. What we need is a congressional authorization for the Commander In Chief to direct the Pentagon to release them all, for the benefit of the nation; and prior to the 2008 election compaign.

Department document summarizing Kerry's military career posted on johnkerry.com, includes a "Silver Star with combat V."

But according to a U.S. Navy spokesman, "Kerry's record is incorrect. The Navy has never issued a 'combat V' to anyone for a Silver Star."

Naval regulations do not allow for the use of a "combat V" for the Silver Star, the third-highest decoration the Navy awards. None of the other services has ever granted a Silver Star "combat V," either.

Then there is this:

Kerry's Web site also lists two different citations for the Silver Star. One was issued by the commander in chief of the Pacific Command (CINCPAC), Adm. John Hyland. The other, issued by Secretary of the Navy John Lehman during the Reagan administration, contained some revisions and additional language. "By his brave actions, bold initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty, Lieutenant (j.g.) Kerry reflected great credit upon himself...
But a third citation exists that appears to be the earliest. And it is not on the Kerry campaign Web site. It was issued by Vice Adm. Elmo Zumwalt, commander of U.S. naval forces in Vietnam. This citation lacks the language in the Hyland citation or that added by the Lehman version, but includes another 170 words in a detailed description of Kerry's attack on a Viet Cong ambush, his killing of an enemy soldier carrying a loaded rocket launcher, as well as military equipment captured and a body count of dead enemy.

Maj. Anthony Milavic, a retired Marine Vietnam veteran, calls the issuance of three citations for the same medal "bizarre." Milavic hosts Milinet, an Internet forum popular with the military community that is intended "to provide a forum in military/political affairs."

Mr. Kerry, we ask you not to repeat the same mistake you made when you returned from war: Please stop maligning your fellow veterans. Dealing with us should be easy. Just answer our charges. Produce your Vietnam journal and notes, and execute Standard Form 180 so the American people can see your complete military record--not just the few forms you put on your website or show to campaign biographers.

He could end all this by just releasing the records.

"A fire at the NPRC in St. Louis on July 12, 1973, destroyed about 80 percent of the records for Army personnel discharged between November 1, 1912, and January 1, 1960. Approximately 75 percent of the records for Air Force personnel with surnames from "Hubbard" through "Z" discharged between September 25, 1947, and January 1, 1964, were also destroyed."
So Kerry's records are not involved.

'I have signed it,' Kerry said. Then, he added that his staff was 'still going through it' and 'very, very shortly, you will have a chance to see it.'

It shouldn’t take long, Hanoi John wasn’t in all that long.
Of course, finding a way to hide possible Article 31 investigations, a less than honorable discharge …

Brit Hume nailed this POS last night on FOX. Was hillarious. What a dork - thank god he isn't in the White House.

What did Brit say and why did it come up? Thanks.

Quit fooling yourselves. This b@stard is never going to open his records to anyone. Just like Hitlery can't find her missing Rose Law Firm documents, or Sandy Burgler had nothing of importance shoved down his pants.

Never forget; we're dealing with a sociopath, here! ;)
