L&O strikes again. I really hate how they use their show to bash conservatives and especially gun-owners. (Not that they're alone in this, mind you.)

Law & Order always changes their "ripped from the headlines" perp to a white male no matter who the real-life perp was, and Tom DeLay is a white male, so there you have it. ;^P

Why does Fred Thompson participate in this sort of drivel?

They went after Rumsfeld this week too. Some nonsense about an anti-malaria drug that was making people wig out when they got back home.

More on NBC--and more reasons I don't watch it.

I overheard on an episode a day or two ago where military personnel were drugged then committed heinous crimes. The investigator mentioned going after Rumsfeld specifically. Pathetic.

The DeLay reference occurred when the female detective, out of the blue, says, (paraphrasing) "We might as well put out an APB on everyone wearing a Tom Delay T-shirt."

(And I won't even go into the plot of "L&O:SVU" Tuesday night!)

Saw that last night, Erbe character made some crack about perp's Tom Delay Tee shirt. Turned it off in disgust. Cheap shots do not make good drama. Apart from the fact that cheap only runs one way.

"Why does Fred Thompson participate in this sort of drivel?"

Because he gets paid very well.

Law and Order has pulled some other crap like this before.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, either. I heard Dick Wolf (the producer of the whole L&O franchise) is one of those rare Hollywood conservatives. But you're right-- they've pulled crap like this before. They've done evangelical Christian bashing on a fairly regular basis. And in the SVU show the other night, they bashed Don Rumsfeld and DoD very hard over knowingly giving soldiers some drug that causes them to go into fits of rage and suicide-- I missed part of the show so I don't know the full story on that one.

The new detective is a Republican though.

I like him.

If they're wondering where their viewers have gone, they need to look at the election map. The "red states" are in the majority, and a lot of us are tired of their preachy propaganda--in in this household, we have been for a number of years.

From the ever reliable MRC:

" The season finale of NBC's Law & Order: Criminal Intent, which aired Wednesday night, portrayed House Majority Leader Tom DeLay as a hero to white supremacist gun nuts suspected of murdering two judges, one of them black, and who had expressed the view that the white woman judge who was murdered was a "race traitor" who raised her family in the "Zionist enclave of Riverdale." When the ballistics on the bullet which killed the black judge showed it was fired by the same rifle which was used to kill the white judge, New York City Police Department "Detective Alexandra Eames" suggested to her fellow detectives and an Assistant District

Attorney: "Maybe we should put out and APB for somebody in a Tom DeLay T-shirt."

Another detective then presented evidence the shooter came from the West, prompting Eames to point out: "Home of a lot of white supremacist groups." "

L&O pulls this crap every epidsode.

I told Central Scruntinzer ahead of the show's airing last night, that the show would take a pot shot at Bush, the GOP or the Catholic Church.

Last night the cheap shots were aimed at Tom DeLay, Rumsfeld, the Penetgon and the whole of the US military's brass.
