Psalm 141: 9-10

Keep me from the snares they have laid for me,
from the traps set by evildoers.

Let the wicked fall into their own nets,
while I pass by in safety.

O Lord,

Your Name is Wonderful! Your steadfastness is an Anchor when our lives are storm-tossed; Your mercy is bountiful; Your grace is the source of our hope and our salvation. Glory to God, the Almighty!

Father, You instruct us to pray for those in authority so we lift up to You our President, a man who calls Your name and heeds Your voice. He is beset by enemies both at home and abroad who lay snares to entrap him and bring him down. Lord, deliver him from those whose intent is evil, whether they be foreign terrorists or persons in our own country who are beguiled with power, greed, and envy. Place Your wisdom in his heart and Your words in his mouth that he may serve You in his service to our nation. Bless Laura and their daughters and give them strength, patience, and peace all of their days. Protect our First Couple and keep them safe; let their marriage grow stronger day by day that it may be a refuge and a comfort for them from the bitterness and vitriol of the political world in which they dwell.

Lord, today more of our brave troops have lost their lives in battle. Reach out to their families, drawing them close to Your heart. Encourage those who fight against a vicious and desperate enemy; let our troops be filled with courage and let them know of our appreciation for their sacrifices.

Father, we see the division and discord in our nation today and are frustrated, angry, and distressed. Lord, such things come from the prince of darkness; we ask You to bind his hands. We praise You for the victory that You have won over him even as we despair of the ongoing battles we witness daily. Our desires are for truth and light to be the standards in our beloved country; our heartfelt plea is that Your will may be done on earth as it is in Heaven. In the Name of Your precious Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please place Your hedge of protection around President Bush and his family. Please continue to impart Your wisdom upon him daily.

I humbly ask that you also touch those who are in opposition, so that they too may know that You are not oblivious to what takes place here on Earth, for you are omnipotent. Convict their hearts and minds.

Continue to watch over our Troops serving in Iraq and elsewhere, and be a comfort and a Presence to their families. I ask these and all unspoken petitions in Jesus' Name, Amen.

AMEN KAYAK AND AMEN ALL!

GRACE TO ALL BRETHREN!

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee."
- Psalm 55:22

Care, even though exercised upon legitimate objects, if carried to excess,
has in it the nature of sin. The precept to avoid anxious care is
earnestly inculcated by our Saviour, again and again; it is reiterated by
the apostles; and it is one which cannot be neglected without involving
transgression: for the very essence of anxious care is the imagining that
we are wiser than God, and the thrusting ourselves into his place to do
for him that which he has undertaken to do for us. We attempt to think of
that which we fancy he will forget; we labour to take upon ourselves our
weary burden, as if he were unable or unwilling to take it for us. Now
this disobedience to his plain precept, this unbelief in his Word, this
presumption in intruding upon his province, is all sinful. Yet more than
this, anxious care often leads to acts of sin. He who cannot calmly leave
his affairs in God's hand, but will carry his own burden, is very likely
to be tempted to use wrong means to help himself. This sin leads to a
forsaking of God as our counsellor, and resorting instead to human wisdom.
This is going to the "broken cistern" instead of to the "fountain;" a sin
which was laid against Israel of old. Anxiety makes us doubt God's
lovingkindness, and thus our love to him grows cold; we feel mistrust, and
thus grieve the Spirit of God, so that our prayers become hindered, our
consistent example marred, and our life one of self-seeking.
Thus want of confidence in God leads us to wander far from him; but if
through simple faith in his promise, we cast each burden as it comes upon
him, and are "careful for nothing" because he undertakes to care for us,
it will keep us close to him, and strengthen us against much temptation.
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee,
because he trusteth in thee.
"

Thank you, Kayak.

Father, Your word says that if anyone lacks wisdom that he can ask and you will give it freely. We know that our President asks for wisdom, so we agree with him and Your Word that it is liberally given to him. Show him not only your plans for our nation, but also how to accomplish those plans. Grant him the favor he needs to make those plans a success.

Father, we recognize that sometimes our prayers don't appear to be answered, but that you are pointing out weaknesses in the system so that they can be fixed. Our trust through it all is in You, Your goodness, Your grace and Your love for us.

We worship You in Spirit and Truth and bless Your holy name.

Amen.
