Or hook the base of the crane up to one of these.
Bet he'll jump then.

Build a fire under him.
Literally.
Use a bunch of old tires.
To: reagan_fanatic
Well that will certainly light up his day.

Lower the hook, take the grounds off the crane, bring in a good welding machine and attach one end to the hook and the other end to the bottom of the mast. Resistance heating will do the rest.

"Cranes go up, cranes go down..."
It is a jack-up type of crane. It is a lot of work to lower the horizontal boom. If the vertical section is anchored to the top of a building, then the most it could be lowered is the height of the building plus about 20 additional feet above the anchor point of the building.

"A homicide suspect remained perched on an 18-story construction crane for a third day Friday, holding police at bay and causing a spectacle in the heart of the city's entertainment district."
At least he had a well thought out escape plan.

This is really ugly of me to say this...but this guy is a pain in the ass. The best case scenario is for him to fall to his death and save the hard working tax payers of his community the trouble of a trial.
Case closed. :)

Too high for a fire hose, but a good cross bow possibility.

Have Jennifer Wilbanks propose marriage to him. That should make him jump off the ladder right into the arms of the arresting officers.THAT is a reality show I would watch.

Atlanta's expecting T-storms this weekend. One good bolt of lightning will at least open up part of Peachtree Rd. The other part of this road is closed because the water department hasn't been able to fix a water pipe for nearly two months. A building has even collapsed.

Why can't they just lower the boom of the crane?

Seems kind of appropriate that he is doing this in the heart of the city's entertainment district.

Maybe 90 feet is too high for this guy. Why not just lower the boom on the crane. Push the boom lever forward and down it comes, nice and slow. You probably don't even have to start the engine. The boom head will come all the way down to the ground.
Stop all operations during a lightning storm!

Where is a good thunderstorm when you need one?
No expensive trial. No expensive appeals. No injection. Just lots of nature's own free electricity.
To: El Conservador
offers of food and a plan to have him jump onto air bags hadn't resolved the standoff. I bet the offer of alcohol or mind altering drugs would have been more resolvent.
