ATLANTA A murder suspect who held police at bay on a construction crane for 56 hours is facing new charges. Carl Roland has been released from an Atlanta hospital, where he was taken after the siege ended Saturday. Police zapped Roland with a Taser when he asked for a drink of water. He was then lowered to the ground from the 350-foot crane and transported to an area hospital.

Roland was wanted for murder in Florida. Authorities suspect him in the death of a former girlfriend.

Now, Georgia authorities are adding charges of criminal trespassing, reckless conduct and first-degree criminal damage to property. He has a hearing, from jail, in Fulton County tomorrow.

What a waste of resources. They should have just flown overhead in a helicopter and dumped vegetable oil all over the crane. That would have solved the problem quickly enough.

And what about the hundreds and hundreds of people inconvenienced because the LEOs shut down Peach Tree Street?
