Thankfully, times have changed. The Watergate gang couldn't pull that stuff now. The same leftwing cabal tried to defeat GWB in 2004, but thanks to the Swiftboat Vets and others, they failed in their attempted coup. :) Nixon wasn't so lucky, but he did in fact give his enemies ammo, as did Clinton. It's not completely back and white.

Wikipedia has it's uses. As with anything on the 'net, if you don't make sure that their information is accurate, you can be misled. One of my purposes in my post was to archive what they had on it before they changed it - probably soon. I will never forget sKerry's "restorehonesty.com" LOL website and how they changed it and eliminated it when their information was discovered to be so blatantly wrong... but Grampa Dave and other FReepers archived the lies for posterity.

In any event, we can't let people forget that those who are portraying themselves as "historians and journalists" are so prone to misinforming the public.

This case is a real good example of how wrong they often are.

Thanks for the kind words. I was just one of many documenting/archiving the lies for posteriryt. This is why we need to post the full text on Free Republic when we find something of historical interest re Deep Throat and Watergate. Then when the dark sides eliminates the data and maybe the sites, the data will be here for those who want the truth.

"In any event, we can't let people forget that those who are portraying themselves as "historians and journalists" are so prone to misinforming the public."

When does the MSM mediots stop lying to Americans?

"This case is a real good example of how wrong they often are."

The genocide which followed in SE Asia after we left Nam, the election Jimmy Carter and the establishment of the Mass Murdering Mullah Thugs in Iran are painful examples of what happens when the mediots seized control of this nation.

"he rolled down his car window and jovially told reporters that he now plans to "write a book or something and get all the money I can."

Instead of writing a books, he outta be repenting! Death it seems is at his front door! He is what 80 years old?? Soon to meet his maker...wow, I'd be repenting instead of boasting of writing a book about his traitorous act! But like a scum backstabber turned rat, they don't believe in an after life!! OH BOY, he's gonna have to face the great and powerful Judge in Judgment day...YIKES!! If I read it right, I believe R.Nixon was born again in his latter years of life.

What a TV news spectacle this guy's family put on---crowing about his "heroics."

Makes me sick. The daughter there beeming.

You're right. What followed was a series of weak presidents, the worst of which was Jimmy Carter. I'm old enough to remember the runaway inflation at the time. I remember old people lining up selling silver dollars, gas prices sky high etc. and dumb@ss carter telling everyong that the glory days of america are over and that we have to live more frugally and wear sweaters.

The middle east mess was his doing.

(as well as McCarthy's demeaning their Hollywood idols)

That was the House Committee on Un-American Activities. McCarthy, a senator, had nothing to do with it.

Agreed... but McCarthy survived as a symbol for the leftists. I _have_ read Coulter's book, "Treason", by the way

No wonder Felt was passed over for promotion. The FBI had his number, alright

He was a mentor of Hoover. He expected to be the No. 1 guy. He had to be dismayed that all the years served he was passed over. Therefore, payback time. He could have gone to the Justice Dept..he could have made all kinds of noise; but he chose Woodward. Biggest story for Woodward and then he gets shafted by Felt's family for Vanity Fair..especially with Wooward's book coming out. Now with his own book in competition with Woodward, I am sure he was advised this was the best avenue to take. How do we know he did not receive some "soft pressure" from his family. There were college tuitions to pay. I am sure Felt loves his family and would do anything to make their lives comfortable after he is gone. Therefore the decision to cough up the Watergate "fur-ball".

But will the American public be overwhelmed with the media's reporting to the choking stage. The highlights in the book will be out for public discussion, plastered across FOX,and the alphabet soup networks, press etc. and the regular person on the street has better things to do..working, raising a family, paying the bills..then be consumed by a rehash of the Watergate scandal. The public is not stupid, for they see BOOK DEAL and roll their eyes and go on with life.

<< ... Felt family [Members admit] that the road to their father's decision to [Confess] ... his role — after years of denials — began with their thought that there was money to be made ... >>

There are ample laws on the books forbidding profit from crime and if there was ever an occasion when the employment of those Laws -- and the speedy indictment of the subject criminal[s] -- became imperative, this is surely that occasion!

This execrable creep's subversion in time of war, coupled with Woodward's, Bernstein's, Martha Graham's, Ben Bradley's, Bill Moyers and that of the entire "Democrat" potty et al, cost our nation more than the combined cost of the Cartah and Cli'ton "administrations" -- and the lives of millions of South-East Asians -- and must not go unpunished nor make any of them a net Cent!

This was a fallacy. Tailgunner Joe's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations only pervue was communist infiltration of the federal government. The hollywood thing was HUAC.

Mark Felt was not Richard Nixon's undoing. Richard Nixon dug his own grave and Felt, along with Woodward and Bernstein aided in shoveling the dirt on top of him. Felt saw the corruption of the Nixon administration and decided that going through the proper channels would not get him anywhere, so he did the next best thing and confided in his friend Woodward.

Nixon's administration was the most corrupt Presidency of all time. And then came the Clinton's.To just think that these two criminals got away with what they did and Richard Nixon did noting in my book to resign about. That said I did not like Nixon at all..

And what was funny is old Hillary Took a $100,000 bribe, camouflaged as futures trades, from Tyson Foods Inc.
Speculated in Health Care industry futures while overseeing legislative reform of same.
Failed to correct false testimony by co-defendant Ira Magaziner in Health Care trial.
Obstructed justice by ordering the shredding of Vince Foster's documents in the Rose Law Firm.
Ordered members of the Health Care Task Force to shred documents that were the target of a court probe.
Ordered the removal of documents from Vince Foster's office and told aides to lie about their removal of documents.
Obstructed justice by keeping her billing records, a document sought under subpoena, in the White House residence.
Lied to investigators about her knowledge about billing records.
Lied to investigators about her involvement in the Castle Grande land flip con.
Ordered the use of the FBI to discredit Travel Office employees.
Lied to investigators about her involvement in the firing of Travel Office Employees.
A Federal judge orders a trial on July 25, 1994 to determine if Hillary Clinton's heath care task force illegally operated in secret.
The White House finally releases more than 2,000 documents on June 25, 1996, relating to the travel office firings, originally requested two years ago by congressional investigators.

I agree, as I said in post#48. When speaking to people who don't understand any of this history, the quickest way to get their attention is with the "McCarthyism" label - under which HUAC is regularly subsumed.

We're still in the process of attempting to recover from Watergate.

True, but it goes back further than that and is just one step in a continuing journey. As you say, it is the ongoing battle between the Communists/Socialists, who have joined forces with the Jihadists, and freedom. It is the classic conflict between good and evil.

Until Karl Marx tyranny took the form of raw, unconcealed power. If a tyrant wanted something he took it, if he could. There was no pretense.

Communism is a replay of the drama that took place in the Garden of Eden. It is a contest between God and Man, and just as Eve did, the Communists use guile and stealth to achieve their purpose. Communism assumes that man will do good all on his own, that he will forsake his human instincts of self preservation, self embodiment, self aggrandizement, and sense of fair play to negate his own benefit to that of others. It assumes that man will be Christ-like without Christ.

After the bloody Russian Revolution with the Reds winning by pretending to be the good guys, Lenin and Stalin quickly put the lie to all the high sounding platitudes and reigned with oppressive brutality. Those in the West who were enthralled by the concept of Communism, eliminating a God who held them to account and spoiled their fun, chose to conveniently overlook what was really going on in Russia and tried to install a similar regime in America. Stalin called these people useful idiots.

However, the almost sacred document forged by our genius founders, our Constitution, presented formidable obstacles to their plans, as it was intended to do.

Abraham Lincoln was the first to breach the founding doctrine but it took another bloody civil war to do it. The result was a move toward cementing power at the top as opposed to a bottom-up government as intended.

Under FDR the hidden Communist elite within his administration and the press, they were yet to be called the media because almost all news was printed, used the depression as an excuse to begin the socialization of America. That was continued into the lead up to WWII and our support of Communist Russia, by then called the USSR through brutal expansion, and throughout the war until it ended with the USSR controlling even more unwilling serfs in eastern Europe. They tried further expansion into Korea and Vietnam but by then the Communists had lost much influence in U.S. administrations and we prevented their success.

That didn't mean they weren't still diligent at home. Sen. Joseph McCarthy exposed many of them with the help of worker bee Richard Nixon. This was possible because the pretense of benevolence by the Communists had been shattered by Stalin. They were now known for the brutes they were and their declared goal of world domination did not play well here.

That did not prevent our domestic Communists from continuing their crusade. Knowing that freedom loving people, all people actually, would never accept a brutal dictatorship, they had to proceed in stealth. One of their methods is to totally discredit and destroy all dissenters and exposers so they turned all their guns of Joe McCarthy and later Richard Nixon. Hillary was a worker bee in that effort.

The left continued their gains through LBJ and a Democrat controlled Congress steeped in the tradition of FDR. Due to fawning press coverage FDR had become a hero to many Americans, especially in the conservative rural South, ironically. Although most Southern Democrats at the time were conservative, because of the FDR legacy, they were unable to stint the move toward domestic socialism. LBJ fed off this to gain power. He facilitated its continuance for power, using the Civil Rights movement and the Great Society programs to co-opt and consolidate all minorities into the Democrat fold. After signing the Civil Rights act of 1964 he is on tape telling a friend, I think it was Sen. Richard Russel of GA., "That will keep the n-----s voting Democrat for the next 200 years."

Whether intended or not, this followed the Communists play book of divide and conquer by sowing class warfare to keep the people from consolidating against them.

Although the left has been occasionally stymied by Nixon, Reagan-Bush, and Dubya, they made tremendous strides under Carter and Clinton, effectively negating our military and technological advantage up to that point.

The Islamic terrorist movement got its big boost when Carter wimped out in Iran and allowed the Muslims to thumb their noses at Uncle Sam, depose the Shah and install an Ayatollah. They steadily built steam through Reagan and Bush and really took off when Clinton covertly supported them in pursuit of a Nobel Peace Prize and a legacy. The Clintons were also furthering the leftist cause by aiding our enemies.

Although Muslims have been the way they are since Mohamed, the end of WWII saw the merger of the left with the Islamist in an effort by the Communist to sow dissent and turmoil in "oil Country" and used the creation of Israel as impetus. This was/is a tactic of the left all over the world, including the good old USA, and it was greatly aided by Carter and the Clintons.

Well, finally, back to where we started. What we are seeing now is the continuing battle between good and evil, central control by power seekers versus individual freedom. The power seekers use all the under handed psychological tricks and deceptions necessary to accomplish their goals. They demonize their enemies, all freedom seeking people, and falsely glorify their own and their accomplishments. The opposition is stupid while they are brilliant. The opposition are liars and cheats bent upon suppressing the honest ambitions of the underprivileged while they are purer than the driven snow. Up is down, black is white. It is amazing the lies they can sell with the help of a controlled media and madrassa school system.

Bringing Watergate back into the spotlight is another opportunity to try to glorify their own and destroy the opposition. Hillary is moving right, the media occasionally pretend objectivity, and old ghosts of the evil Republicans are dredged up. It is all a part of the campaign to regain power through Hillary.

Your post was long so I thought I would show you how to say the same thing and make it really, really long. :-)

I gotta admit, that spokeswoman/daughter or whatever she is looked unintentionally funny: toothy, forced smile, got those teeth whitened, and also got her hair done, for the big press conference where she tells us how proud she was.

When I saw that I figured there was something fishy about it. :)

I want to make one thing clear here.I do not think Felt is a hero.Just to bad we didn't have someone in the FBI or CIA tell the world about the Clintons and something stick there.Yes I know we had Gary Aldridge and I am proud of him and what he wrote but why in hell didn't someone do something about what he told us.

Don't forget the women who brought Nixon down.

Like Bella Abzug, the Bolshevik from New York with the big hat who OPPOSED our entry into WW2 until Hitler stabbed his buddy oe Stalin in the back.

Then Bella quickly changed course and supported the war effort.

These are the kind of leftists who have gradually taken over the Democrat Party.

Andrew Jackson would have challenged them all to a duel.

"Nixon's administration was the most corrupt Presidency of all time."

I respectfully disagree. The socialist media managed to successfully propagandize it as such, but several others were worse... That leaves the "most ethical administration in history" (bad ethics) you note holding first place in the corruption department.
