What Everybody's Missing About Deep Throat (He Would Have Buried Watergate)
Self | June 2, 2005 | JohnRobertson

Posted on 06/02/2005 8:21:22 PM PDT by John Robertson

While many MSM'ers (sorry, most) are lionizing this guy as "a hero," someone who "did what he had to do," something big is being missed.

Our side has pointed out that he authorized/engineered illegal breakins himself...

And that he turned on the Whitehouse because he didn't get the top FBI job. Now think about that....

Felt became a snitch because he didn't get something he wanted! He was an opportunist, plain and simple (and it runs in the family, apparently, as they shamelessly say they urged the old man to do it so they could all get some money). Yeah, a real hero.

But here's what I haven't seen....

If they had made him the head of the FBI, he WOULD NOT have turned on the Whitehouse.

In fact, as head of the FBI....

HE WOULD HAVE HELPED THEM BURY WATERGATE!

You are right on. The Johnson/mafia "outfit" links are long.

Doesn't it seem odd that Felt was convicted of bugging the offices and homes of Anti-war activists, and James McCord testified under oath that burglarized and bugged the DNC Headquarters at the Watergate Hotel because some of the staffers at the DNC had connections to members of VVAW

This leaves me wondering if Felt was involved in planning the break in !!!

I was just following along the initial line of thought and found something which should have been obvious:

The investigation of the VVAW by the FBI began in 1964 (under Johnson) - several names are listed in the "distribution" of these investigative documents. In hindsight, the name Felt glares out.

He was intimately familiar with the investigations of the VVAW from 1967 onward. His division (DID Domestic Intelligence) was responsible for the entire investigation.

The VVAW, with all of it's connections to the Weatherman, SDS, CP, the North Vietnamese - AND -

In 1972, just after the famous November 1971 meetings in Kansas City, dramatically escalated protest actions almost everywhere (including "occupying" the UN), and credible reports that the VVAW was arming itself -

Which quasi-former national leader of the VVAW, with strong ties to the upper echelons of the DNC, should announce his candidacy for the House of Represenatives?

Is it possible that McCord was telling the truth? That there was genuine "concern" that the DNC & the VVAW (& Co.) were working hand in hand? That a Senior FBI Official, disgruntled that he was passed over for a position he "felt" rightfully belonged to him and, possessing FULL knowledge of the scope of the domestic counterintelligence effort and the "current" administrations involvement in those investigations, decided to "tell all" to a well placed, sympathetic reporter he had recruited years earlier?

What OTHER information did Felt reveal about these investigations - information which ultimately led to the draconian impairment of the intelligence agencies?

Hey buddie, do you think I am outside the asylum looking in, or inside the asylum looking out? Tell it like you see it. I want your honest opinion.

Hey, I've got my own problems with this. I don't like people who break their oaths period, but you already know that. I suspect Felt went to the press, violating his oath, for petty reasons more than for honorable ones. I also think Nixon got what he deserved.

On the other hand the press knew JFK was a doper hanging out with Giancarla's slightly used babe.

All in all I think Nixon spent his later years honorably and went to his maker as a man should. I wish Felt would have done the same.

Not what you're looking for I suspect but it's what I think.

But with a Ford presidency, and especially with no Jimmuh Cartuh, there'd have been no Reagan.

No Reagan, no collapse of Communism.

No collapse of Communism, no Osama bin Hidin running amok in the Western world.

Digging deeper . . .

Which political family would have topped RMN's "hate list"?
Which political family began a political association with a future leader of the VVAW as early as 1962?
Which political family received DIRECT support from the VVAW in 1968 (i.e. it's leaders left to work for the campaign)?
Which political family received DIRECT support from a future national leader of the VVAW in October 1969 (i.e. the future leader flew thier speach writer to anti-war protests - WHILE STILL AN ACTIVE COMMISSIONED OFFICER IN THE US NAVY?

Thanks, Grampa.

I had no idea this would engender this much--and this much terrific--reaction. Freepers are something else, aren't they?

"I listened to calls to Cspan, and a surprising majority felt he was breaking the law (or FBI rules) and he was no hero."

Cspan. But really, most of the people will get most of their information from MSM--Katie, NY Times, network news, CNN, etc.

"Just think what we could have done with this story back in 1971-73."

But most of us only had dial-up.

When Senators Inouye, Lowell Weicker (R-CT), Ed Gurney (R-FL), and Howard Baker (R-TN) asked for more detail, in each case McCord repeated the "violence" reference but specifically – and only -- named the "Vietnam Veterans Against the War", accusing them as "a violence-oriented group" (Hearing pages 180, 200, 201, 223-24 and elsewhere, May 18 and 22 testimony).

Were the tapes from the wiretap that Felt did, ever released???

And if not .. are they still available?

Mark Felt is a hero and Linda Tripp is a villan. I don't get it.

Mark Felt helped in toppling a Republican President.
Linda Tripp helped in tarnishing a Democratic President.

SNAFU!!!!!!

"I had no idea this would engender this much--and this much terrific--reaction. Freepers are something else, aren't they?"

Which is why the dark side is so scared of Free Republic and send their trolls over and activate their brownshirted moles to divert us or ruin threads like yours.

We can ask Blather and Mapes about how effective Freepers are.

Again, thanks for the thread, your concept and moderation of it as a few tried to derail it with love of Felt and hatred of Nixon, the liberal line/mantras.
