But we did lose the PR war .. thanks to some in the media and the anti war people

And history is repeating itself ... why are we making the same mistake twice?  Declare a total media blackout.  I could care less what the libbies do, let them cry and scream into their cafe Lattes all they want about freedom of the press or whatever ... this is a war!  The more OUR media creates stories like this, the more angry the enemy gets and the harder and longer they will fight.

Really? And they were captured at Disney World and sent to gitmo for impersonating Mickey Mouse?

Right.  They were not innocent holy people praying in a mosque when they were captured.

Declare a total media blackout.

Can't .. it will cause people to think the military is trying to hide something

I don't necessary have a problem with this being reported

My problem with the media is that, it is all the report on

Though some do .. Majority of the media/press ONLY report the bad things that happen

Uhhh...hmmm...

I'm sure the MSM will have an answer for you soon.

It's ludicrous how the MSM, who are so feminist and liberal and anti-religion, are falling all over themselves to defend the most sexist, anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-free speech, anti-intellectual, anti-freedom bunch on the planet.

That's what happens when you're just a contrarian, and your editorial meetings no doubt consist of each editor asking each reporter "How will this hurt George Bush?" while trying to decide whether or not to follow a story.

So?  The alternative is better?

I know you are right, I am just so angry at this moment that I would support this.  Until, of course, I calm down and let better heads prevail. =)

This is not something that needed investigating.
It's just a book.

If Muslims can't live with that and want us to submit to their views and rituals, too bad for them. This is just the start of submitting to their religion which is filled with rituals just for that purpose.

How will this hurt George Bush

It's got to be more than this, no one or no entity can be this spiteful.  To help push an entire nation & millions of people, including their own loved ones, into the path of the enemy just to get back at one person?  No, that is too much to believe.  There has got to be more.

Yeah, a total media blackout would be good. Better yet, seize the NYT, LAT & the Three Stooges next works & turn 'em over the the people running the American Spectator.

All of this Koran Krap is so stupid. The terrorists in GTMO did more damage than our troops did accidentally.

Geeze, what are we becoming here in the States? Syria? Most of the US "media" sounds just like Al Jezria now.

Like the bumper sticker says: "If Islam is a religion of pace, then sticks of dynamite are only candles."

This is not something that needed investigating. It's just a book.

Not only that ... it's the lead story on every 'news' website I checked out.  And you can bet on the fact that it will run ALL weekend long as the lead story.

Can you believe that the Abu Graihb thing has been probably run longer than the entire 911 story, in terms of time/length.  It's been running for how long now?  A year?  More?  9-11 was reduced to a whisper 3 months after it occured.

I've seen that stupid picture of that hooded guy more times than I've seen images of the towers collapsing.

Ok, I am slow, but what are the proper ways for a guard to transfer a koran (aka "Lil' book of deamons")to a prisoner. Is it "desecrating" the book for a guard to physically touch it, or am I mistaken.
If so that is the most absurd breach in security I can think of. Of course, I am sure it has been inspected a few times prior to the guard issuing it but these imprisoned fools should understand that life changes when you find yourself behind bars. You eat whats on the menu, you wear issued clothing and you try to be happy that you are being held by a generous nation that allows religious freedom.
I am glad I am not running the base there. The koran would be considered propaganda and these fools would eat cheeseburgers and pizza 3 meals a day.
Even with the quantity of Beer I drink, I can never piss on enough of the "dirty little books of hatred" to satisfy my disdain for these radical islamofacists.

On a side note, Ali Elfin Akfubar, your koran has a secret message in it. turn to page 36 and you will find the product of an allergy induced sneeze. It would have been gross to wipe it on my pant leg so...decipher that.

They want us to lose this war .. Many in the media/press have declared war on our military, the Bush Administration .. and our country

I too am absolutely ashamed of our press. They continually poke and prod at the good guys while buying into the lies of the really bad guys.

THESE DETAINEES ARE TERRORISTS!!!!

Baby killers who kill in the name of a false god.

And all the press is interested in is embarassing our side.

Ironically, and this is the part that really gets me, were the terrorists to actually win this war, what would happen to the "free press"?

Apparently they don't care or are too stupid to see it.

The last laugh will indeed be on them!

This is a completely bogus story based on an AP spin that come out earlier. Here's what the investigation really says:

A U.S. military investigation into the mishandling of the Muslim holy book at the Guantanamo Bay prison for suspected terrorists has determined that detainees -- not U.S. soldiers -- attempted to flush the Quran down the toilet there.

-SNIP-

In one incident, on February 23, 2004, the report said a guard saw a "detainee place two Qurans in his toilet and state he no longer cared about the Quran or his religion.

Five minutes later, after the detainee retrieved the Qurans, he ripped several pages out of one Quran and threw the pages on the floor. Then, he placed both Qurans on the sink."

Another time, on January 19, 2005, a detainee "tore up his Quran and tried to flush it down the toilet. Four guards witnessed the incident," the report said.

The report also cited 12 other incidents by detainees, including one who used his Quran as a pillow, another who urinated on his holy book and several who ripped pages from the Quran.

Capt. Jeff Weir, an Army spokesman at the facility, told CNN in a phone interview that the detainees were typically trying to stage some form of protest when they mishandled the Quran.

Hood said investigators reviewed more than 30,000 documents in an exhaustive probe.

"The inquiry found no credible evidence that a member of the Joint Task Force at Guantanamo Bay ever flushed a Quran down a toilet. This matter is considered closed," the report said.

It said the U.S. military has issued more than 1,600 copies of the Quran since January 2002, conducted more than 28,000 interrogations and carried out thousands of "cell moves."

"Mishandling a Quran at Guantanamo Bay is a rare occurrence," Hood said. "Mishandling of a Quran here is never condoned."

I think we just lost the war!

Can you imagine a report released in 1944 of "Mien Camp" abuses? Half the population of the USA would be saying "what the F***" and the other half would be wishing they were the ones who strung up the reporter.
