You Saw Them Here First (Copies of Kerry's 180)
Powerline ^ | June 20, 2005

Via the Freedom of Information Act, a reader obtained copies of the Form 180s that were recently signed by John Kerry to permit, at long last, the release of his military records. I believe there may be a story about this in the New York Sun tomorrow, and no doubt more commentary will be forthcoming over the next few days. Here are the three documents that Kerry signed; on their face, I don't see anything wrong with them, but then, I'm no expert in military personnel records. We look forward to our readers' comments.

Go to the link..there are 3 pages.

The checks are missing on Section 3 for the AP and LA Times copies. I believe Kerry made it seem like everyone would get a copy but by a technicality made sure Kranish got the exclusive view.

You're correct, thanks for catching that.

Also, let's all remember...these are not the actual documents that we want to see (character of separation...), they're just the permission slip to see the real thing. Hmmm...d'ya think the Globe reporter even looked at the actual docs, or did he just use his previous research?

Hummm... so it is released, but not released... It might as well not of been released if all he allows is the most liberal buttkisser the viewership without the pajama FReepers to make sure they don't skip every other paragraph.

OK...so he provided a copy to the Boston Globe, The LA Times and the Associated Press. Why only the records from his active duty period and not his Reserve duty? He has released the records from December 1966 to January 1970 and NOT the records from his reserve duty. This would be much more interesting if his discharge from the Naval Reserves were part of the 180.

Fing Bogus as Kerry. Look at the form from the source. http://www.archives.gov/research_room/obtain_copies/standard_form_180.pdf These do not look the same, have been sanitized for what ever reason, and look like copies of the same form, xeroxed, with whiteout over the release to part. Typical for a treasonous bastard.

just wrote "11 yrs" where the dates should be put.

I think that chicken scratch is actually "all years"...still strange considering the question was directed towards "years(s)".

Another thing he does is mix upper and lower case letters most noticeable with the "R" in "Record" and "r" in "reporter"...etc...not sure of the significance but still a strange quirk.

After further review I believe the SF-180 are legitimate but only to a limited scope, service records and medical records. If Kerry really wanted all records exposed, he would have put something like "all records including company records and orders".

I think he and Kerry made a deal. The full record for Kranish to sanitize it.. to all we got was Kerry's Yale grades.

If you submit incomplete and sloppy forms to the military, you will get sloppy and incomplete results.

These are crap and Kerry knows it. The stench continues.

If you look at the form, and read the instructions you can tell whomever filled this form out is illiterate. (Cant read simple fing instructions in English)

Also He should have sent it to the National Archives at #6, not the Navy or anyone else.

It shows he is computer illiterate, as the form is a fillable PDF form. Bozo Kohn probably used a crayon derivative pen to fill it out and Xerox it.

Do you think Michael Kranish is an unbiased reporter?

I believe I've seen it stated that Kerry's records are split between two different locations. One is the Boston (?) place he was last in service, the other being the National Records center. I do not know if this applies only to the local records, or if the one form would apply to both record locations.
