Besides, it was warm in Pittsburgh, and the INS agents don't like to leave an air-conditioned office, except at lunchtime.

Only one word for the INS attitude: outrageous.

This is utter insanity.

This is a longstanding practice of the Pittsburgh office of the INS. The local authorities in the Northern Panhandle of W.Va. arrest vans full of illegals on Interstate 70 all the time, and have to cut them loose because the INS boys don't want to drive 45 minutes to take them into custody.

This makes me sick to my stomach. What in the HELL do American citizens have to do to get the laws on illegal aliens enforced?

Burgoyne, who was at home, turned the five away because they had no documents proving their claim to the gold Honda in which they were found early Tuesday.

Trust me! I’m a criminal! Besides, we have Special Status – we’re here illegally.

The INS, it is becoming clear, is a disgusting "service".

I get it now..

there are NO laws in the United States anymore. We can all do as we please.

The INS needs to be disbanded if they don't want to do their freakin jobs.

The fact that this guys had the audacity to go to the sheriff's hoome astounds me. He showed some restraint in not arresting them for trespassing.

My thoughts exactly! Reading this and other articles on the absurdity of the INS puts me in the Twilight Zone.

"When deputies contacted INS Agent Rod Berry in Pittsburgh, he said he wasn't authorized to detain the individuals unless given approval from his office."

What?!? Isn't this part of their freakin' job!? They voluntarily admitted they are here illegally, detain them and send 'em back. It's really not that complicated. This shows how little fear illegals have of our authorities when they go to the police Chief's home to try and get their car back! This really is appalling.

I don't know if the Pittsburgh office of INS is unique in this reluctance to do their job, but this is SOP for them whenever local law enforcement along I-70 (W.Va. and Ohio) stop a speeding vehicle only to discover it crammed full with illegals who claim to be en route to some agricultural job in another state.

---there are NO laws in the United States anymore.---

The government won't stop illegals from coming into the country.
The government will take your money without due prcess.
The government will allow big shots to take your home for profit.
The government will order helpless innocents put to death by starvation.

He should have arrested them again and let the process start all over again.

They have special status. They don't need a driver's license, don't need insurance, don't need registration.

They probably demanded an interpreter to lodge their complaints.

Interesting about the seizure of the illegal's car.

Seems to be quite above board. Seems to me that local law enforcement could use this to great advantage without having to trouble the INS.

See:

USC Title 8 section #1324

The men, who said they lived in North Carolina and were on their way to California when they were arrested, had documents in their possession indicating they were released and had a January 2006 hearing scheduled in federal court in Pittsburgh, Burgoyne said.

Isn't that like a pass to stay in the U.S.? It's the same as saying, "You must remain here illegally until we can determine if you are illegal."

The ineptitude of our federal gubmint on this issue is beyond measure.
