'Today' OKs Gay Weddings Gay marriage may still be a subject of hot debate elsewhere in the country, but NBC's Today show has decided, with some outside prodding, where it stands: Same-sex vows are fine with them. For six years, the show has been running a series that offers an on-air wedding to couples willing to let viewers help select details down to the honeymoon location. One stipulation: This opportunity is open only to currently engaged couples consisting of a male and a female.
After inquiries from gay-rights activists and an article last week in The Advocate, the policy was changed at week's end. A Today spokeswoman explains that the show has always strived to have the winning couple get legally married on the show. Previous weddings had taken place in New York or Anguilla, where local laws bar gay marriages, but this year's contest is about hometown weddingswhich might take place where gay weddings are permitted, notably Massachusetts.

People just don't get it. Its not that most of us are "homophobes" is that we just don't care. Its not special, doesn't mean anything to us. If they have gay weddings on NBC, big woop-de-doo. Its just not newsworthy to me.
Never watch Today and this is just another good reason why.
Welcome to FR.
Clue to NBC programmers: focus your content on viewers that are able to naturally reproduce and who will live past 50 on average.
Life is not fair.
Trolls are coming out of the woodwork this morning.
It will be important to you (maybe) after the Supreme Court finds it a 14th Amendment right. And of course, after same sex marriage, how long before polygomy and polyandry will be protected by law? What about people who want to marry their dog or cat if the animal appears willing? Don't laugh, this is all coming down in a few years.
Soon, churches that don't recognize these "legal" unions will be subjected to civil suits in our courts. It's all coming in the next 50 years.
Forget the people and what they think. They are not enlightened. Our law will be made by judges and liberal academics, thank you very much.
Cornholing?
Is that show still on?
"I think it's a ridiculous assumption that a heterosexual boy is going to start 'experimenting' because he saw a gay character on a sitcom. You are either gay or straight, there is no choice or whim involved. Also, every respected psychological and medical organization in the United States and Europe reject the notion that homosexuality can either be changed or stems from a psychological problem. The truth of the matter is that this kind of rhetoric makes millions of homosexuals in the United States live in guilt and fear because of what a few questionable lines in an anachronistic book say."Formatting my own.
Darn, now the viewers won't get to help pick the wedding gown! Unless....hummmm? /sarcasm off
Welcome aboard, how's DU running?
Really?
And why would that be?
It would be a source of revenue for lawyers, divorce settlements, tangled insurance claims, and tangled courts cases in an already overly bloated system.
No, it isn't a fair thing.
