Vanity - Army Pin I.D. Help Needed

Posted on 06/28/2005 5:56:23 PM PDT by william clark

I need the help of someone versed in military insignia. I'm trying to I.D. a ribbon lapel pin which I believe to be Army-issued, and one that could have been awarded in WWII. Unfortunately, I've not been able to find it in any of my Internet searches of merchants who deal in such things.

The pin in question is red, with six white vertical stripes, three at each end.

Can anyone tell me what this pin signifies? Thanks to anyone who can.

Put "Good Conduct Medal" in a yahoo search and click on the first hit. I believe that's it. BTW, it's not just WWII. Still issued today.

I saw other pins identified as Good Conduct medals, but they didn't look like this one. In fact, I think they were blue; but they may have been for other branches, so I suppose it's possible. I just figured this must be something more obscure for me to not be able to find a picture of it.
