I think the junior senator from Idaho pronounces his name "cray-poe." So that doesn't sound so bad. ;-)

Another senator Reid suggested as a justice is Lindsey Graham. Maybe it would be a good idea to get him out of the Senate!

Btw, does anyone know where I can find the roll call votes on Supreme Court confirmations? I would be interested in knowing which handful of senators had the good sense to vote NO on Souter, Ginsburg, and Breyer.

Do you want to know? All senators who voted against Souter were Democrats, including Kerry, EMK, Mikulski, Terry Sanford, Brock Adams, Bradley, Lautenberg, and Quentin Burdick of ND.

The American Conservative Union endorsed Souter. All Republican senators voted for him, including Helms and Nickles, then the two most conservative senators. Pete Wilson though was apparently absent from the vote.

I like that idea better. Lindsey has become something of a "McVain-lite" as of late. However, that concerns me also. Would he change stripes as a Justice. Yikes!

Only three senators opposed the nomination of Ruth Ginsburg, and nine opposed Souter. I could not find the names but seem to recall that Helms voted against both and Dole-Hatch-Specter FOR both.
