Islamabad, Jul 2 (PTI) Pakistan has said the new defence pact between India and US would introduce new weapons systems, disturbing balance of power in the region and leading to an arms race.
The ten-year defence agreement would "introduce a new weapon system which will disturb the balance of power in South Asia and lead to an arms race in the region", Pakistan Foreign Minister, Khurishid M Kasuri said yesterday.
Kasuri was apparently referring to the prospects of India acquiring Patriot missile defence system from US in his remarks in Dubai while returning from the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) Foreign Ministers meet in Sana, Yamen.
Expressing concern over the agreement signed by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee and US Defence Secretary Donal Rumsfeld two days ago, Kasuri said Pakistan will do its best to maintain balance and deterrence to ensure stability and peace in the region, official APP news agency reported.

pakistan can go suck an egg, India is the rational one.
I certainly hope it does --- to the detriment of every government in the Middle East, to the Communists in China and to the anti-democratic forces in the United Nations.
Screw 'em all.
Gee Pakistan maybe you should not of been playing footsie with the Taliban and Al-Qeda.
Why, yes it _will_ disturb the balance! Shifting it towards the democratic nations and away from one-party states whose intelligence services support terrorists.
High time, too. We should've mended fences with India back in 1990, or even tried to woo them away from their Soviet buddies in the 1980s. India and America are the world's leading democracies, and are natural allies.
But I'd bet that Musharraf is going to whine his way to get some more military goodies.
