"Excuse me sir, but I've been asked to escort all defeatists out of this room. Now if you will come with me please."
There's a big difference between a "deafists" and a "realist." Unfortunately many on this forum do not recognize the difference. As a former Selectman, Town Moderator, School Board Member and State Rep in a small community located near Weare , New Hampshire I understand New Hampshire politics and New Hampshire citizens. I personally know 4 of the 5 selectmen of Weare. Can you say the same? These people "protect" their townspeople whether it be a question of local taxes or the issue of eminent domain. These people firmly believe in the preservation of their community. They don't take kindly to "outsiders" trying to change local traditions.
Being vindictive in politics gets you exactly nothing and in this case it makes makes "conservatives" look like fools. If you wish to look the fool simply jump on the bandwagon.
Thanks for the ping!
There could even be a Kennedy Bros. Souter & Stevens Judicial Circus!
Look, Im fairly sure that this project isnt going anywhere, but
thanks to the Supremes, it could. And thats the point of pursuing it. Souters house is probably in no danger, but thanks to the Supremes, other peoples homes are.
The issue is this: are the rich and the powerful to be sheltered by realists from the folly of their own design? With enough resources, the need for more tax revenue in Ware can be found. There must be blight somewhere in Ware. Recalcitrant selectmen who are so corrupt as to not remove the blight in Ware can be replaced. See how the issue can be framed? Its the good old boys protecting one of their own against the reformers seeking a better future for Ware. I can see the slogans now. Ah, it could be a grand fight. But it does take some imagination, some courage, the resources and the dogged determination to carry it through all of the realists who know the status quo.
That'sa MEAN THEME! I like it.

***Hillsborough is about 20 miles from Weare:
"Often times vindictiveness teaches a good lesson."
Seems like a pretty crappy attitude. That's the problem with this world and it's apparent you're a contributor.

***Since we are both residents in NH, I hope you'll have the opportunity to tell me to my face about my "attitude" and how it affects the world. As a town politician you probably have good cause to be offensively defensive.
Sounds like the propaganda used to try to convince gun-owners to not offend anyone and to keep quiet while gun-control laws and court cases usurped the Second Amendment.
I believe its called "making a statement," Mr. Know-it-all-political-realist-guru-FR-policeman. But what would you care, other than it being an opportunity for flame?
Oh, if only they'd consulted you first.
Give us your thoughts on Senator Clinton and ex-president Clinton.

Words from a typical democrat...if you don't have a valid argument you resort to name calling. So, so sad.
"Give us your thoughts on Senator Clinton and ex-president Clinton."
Met Bill and Hillary back in the mid 80's. Didn't like them then and maintain the feeling today.
I hope any official papers will include the correct spelling of "Just Desserts....."
Sorry, not usually a member of the spelling police.
Hmmmm. "Hewitt's Hangout." "The Savage Suites." "The Hannity Homestead." "Prager Palace...."
bump
"Souter flambe" for desert.
