BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

I grew up in Boulder, so I am with you in a sympathetic way, also...

Of course when I was there is wasn't QUITE as bad as it is now...the hippies had just started inhabiting the mountain area around Boulder, back then...

My dad got transferred to Dallas and here I am---I used to visit Boulder a lot, but not anymore...it is nothing like the "town" that I lived in.

I say we START in Pakistan, move to Syria, drop a few in Saudi Arabia, and just keep going!

at some point Islam as a religion must be visited.

It seems more a tool for spreading dessert tribe fractionalism than as a tool of spiritual enlightenment.

It is a serious issue since there is a minority of believers who seem to function as "useful idiots" to the reality of islam's actions.

Revoking tax exemption to the mosques that brought them would be a good place to start.

You have to be kidding me. We need to put GPS bracelets on these people. Or implant chips in them. We cannot let them go and not track where they are....

Eyewitness accounts of London explosions ( Last names removed for privacy reasons- CitizenM) as they appeared on www.scotsman.com

Tavistock Square bus

• "The explosion seemed to be at the back of the bus. The roof flew off and went up about 10 metres. It then floated back down. There were obviously people badly injured. A parking attendant said he thought a piece of human flesh had landed on his arm." - Raj

There must be a lot of people dead as all the buses were packed, they had been turning people away from the tube stops

• "It was the loudest explosion I have ever heard. I have been in the military and I’ve never heard anything like it before. But the whole incident was screened by trees in front of the hotel which maybe protected us from any blast." - Franklin,American tourist,

• "I was on the bus in front and heard an incredible bang, I turned round and half the double decker bus was in the air. It was a massive explosion and there were papers and half a bus flying through the air. There must be a lot of people dead as all the buses were packed, they had been turning people away from the tube stops. - Belinda

• "I heard a bang, a thudding deep sound. There was a big cloud of grey smoke. I was about 250 metres away at the time and I stopped dead in my tracks and didn’t go any further. The bus was just splintered metal, and it was all bent over. The top part of the bus was completely exposed, as if the roof had been ripped off it.

"There was a bit of panic going on, a few screams and shouts, but there wasn’t massive panic. The police were already there because of what was happening on the tubes and quickly got things under control." - Andrew

• "It was terrible. The bus went to pieces. There were so many bodies on the floor. The back was completely gone, it was blown off completely and a dead body was hanging out and there were dead bodies on the road, it was a horrible thing." - Ayobami, security guard

Edgware Road

• "We just left Paddington station. About 15 seconds later there was some kind of explosion and we collided with another train. We were heading into the station when there was some kind of explosion or something. Everything went black and we collided into some kind of oncoming train. There was debris all over the trains." - Bradley

• "All of sudden there was this massive huge bang. It was absolutely deafening and all the windows shattered. The train came to a grinding halt, everyone fell off their seats. There were just loads of people screaming and the carriages filled with smoke, you couldn't really breathe and you couldn't see what was happening. The driver came on the Tannoy and said 'We have got a problem, don't panic'.

"You could see the carriage opposite was completely gutted. There were some people in real trouble." - Simon 26.

• "I didn't really get upset until I managed to get out of our carriage and looked down the track and saw the carriage opposite. It was completely destroyed and there was smoke everywhere – thank God there wasn’t a fire as people would have been trapped." - Kelly

• "There was just an enormous bang and a lot of smoke. A group of us got fire extinguishers and were able to smash through the carriage door and I now just feel totally numb." - Simon

• "I just experienced a huge explosion and the glass hitting me in my back. People started screaming around me, there was glass everywhere, we couldn’t breathe, there was no way to get off the train. I was in the front of the first carriage and there was a huge, massive hole in the carriage. As I went past the second carriage I could just see the bodies lying all over the floor." - Marcin

Aldgate East

• "There was a loud bang and the train ground to a halt. People started panicking, screaming and crying as smoke came into the carriage. A man told everyone to be calm and we were led to safety along the track. Everyone was terrified when it happened. When they led us to safety, I went past the carriage where I think the explosion was. It was the second one from the front. The metal was all blown outwards and there were people inside being helped by paramedics. One guy was being tended outside on the track. His clothes were torn off and he seemed pretty badly burned." - Arash

• "I think some people may have died. The blast had pulled some people’s clothes off. I was on the train and there was a fire outside the carriage window and then there was a sudden jolt which shook us forward. The explosion was behind me. Some people took charge. We went out of the back of the carriage. A carriage was split in two, all jagged, and without a roof, just open. I saw bodies, I think." - Sarah

Please note, for attacks in the UK they have no qualifiers or attempt to shift sympathy from the victims to those poor ‘ol innocent muslims. Very telling. . .they “condemn” attacks on 9-11 but then claim victim status. . .shameless. Regarding the London attacks, no such attempt to mitigate the guilt of the attackers. Apparently, the country attacked makes all the difference.
On another thread, merely expressing fear of possible backlash attacks was seen as invalidating the entire condemnation.

Here's a DU response:

"Yes, Blair, "barbaric," just like the daisy-cutter bombs you and yours dropped on innocent people in Iraq. As Richard Clark had predicted, your preemptive attack on Iraq--and your little buddy's, the Chimp--has brought more terror on the world, not less. Wake the hell up. You brought this on all of us."

Benjamin Netanyahu put it best. "Our enemy does not lack the will to destroy us, but they lack the means. We have the means to destroy our enemy, but we lack the will. It is race to find who gets what first."

Muslim groups across Britain condemned the terrorist bombings in London today.

As someone mentioned earlier, that's what they say in English...

Heard some twit on MSNBC while ago blathering about how all this is a great embarassment for Prime Minister Tony Blair, blah blah blah ad nauseum. The deceased are barely even cold and the sniping is already in full swing. Scums!!

Never heard of them. They all have strong language in condemnation but then continue the celebration. Their talk is cheap anymore. I spit on the "religion of peace".

Well it's worrisome if a real condemnation isn't taken seriously, too.

"we disassociate ourselves with any organisation - claiming to be Muslim or otherwise; which carries out acts which are contradictory to the teachings of Islam."

who cares, there's not enough good muslims to make the evil inherant in Islam good.
The religion of Islam must be wiped out.

Indeed.

BTW. . .CAIR still hasn't issued a press release.

Most recent press release they have is: "CAIR-MD/VA: Baltimore Mosque Vandalized CAIR-MD/VA seeks probe of possible bias motive"
