I recommend that you read the article by Martin Katz in "The American Thinker" (posted also on FR) and Mark Fuhrman's excellent book, "The Silent Witness." You may still disagree with those of us who supported Terri, but at least you might understand why we did.
Check out #38.
I'm glad I got some folks to be riled by what I posted - but I am preaching to the choir here.
Years of hearing about dead children who have not had a breath of life will DO that to a person.
Torn apart, brains sucked out, powerful solutions burning them in their safe environment... Yes, one tends to be callous!
To paraphrase someone who was talking about taxes (IIRC) - "A billion here; a billion there... pretty soon it adds up to some real money..."
How many Terri's will it take?
How many Elian's will it take??
How many more abortions will it TAKE???
Guess it depends on one's understanding of what "our side" is I suppose.
"Terri was denied due process"
Just what kind of process is it that goes all the way to the Supreme Court, involves the President and US Congress, Fl legislature and Gov.?
Terri bump.
Hard to pick the star evildoers in this case. Too much of it went on behind closed doors. But they were all playing on the same team. In ruling after ruling after ruling, the results were the same as if Greer had stayed home and let Felos be the judge.
The same kind that Dred Scott got.
On our side? Well yes, anyone, be they Christian, atheist
Jewish, Muslim, Wicca is by me welcome if they oppose this
issue.
And I simply do not understand, not one bit, why there
aren't many more with Hentoff's background on the right
side here. I would have thought his views would be
theirs as a matter of course. Maybe someone here can
explain it to me.
Yes abortion is critical. But so is the murder of
disabled or ill adults, and it is shamefully much less
publicized and opposed. To my chagrin I had never heard
of Hugh Finn and many others until Terri's case hit the
blogosphere. G-d save us all.
Do you have a White House fax number? I've gotten
responses from faxes (months later and form postcards
though they be) so someone actually sees them.
Faxes are a good idea. I don't have a fax, but the fax # I have is 202-456-2461. Also, you can check out whitehouse.gov
I like to watch the animal channel - Animal Cops, that kind of thing. There are these monster people who starve dogs, horses, cats, you name it. These monster people if caught get arrested and some do jail time. Meanwhile, Terri was dehydrated and starved to death and life goes on. All I can think to say is, "Come quickly, Lord Jesus."
Judicial Murder.
