'I don't think we'll nuke anybody.'

Of course we won't. When we get attacked next, the left will urge the president not to respond with nukes or any other force...because in order to "understand" and be "tolerant" of our enemy...we must turn the other cheek.

Heh, great way to sell a book!

Exactly! This hits all the hot-button issues with conservatives......borders, terrorists, suitcase nukes.

If enough speculation takes place, somebody will be right someday when the next attack takes place.

Just like "Who is going to retire from the Supreme Court first?" was just a 1 in 9 chance. Bill Kristol just happened to get lucky and was right.

Yes, these "if they had them, they would have used them" people show that they have a profound misunderstanding of al Qaida. I'm not saying they do, but those type of comments are ludicrous.

Anybody besides me going to bet that the only source for "Al Qaeda Suitcase Nukes in the US" is "news" sources like WorldNutDaily

Or DEBKA.

Why waste them?

Because they're being hounded left and right and the FBI could arrest them at any point and a nuke used is better for them than a nuke unused and wasted. There's no way Al Qaeda has nukes.

Maybe they're waiting for the Chicoms to pre-position troops in Panama and Nassau for the invasion after the nukes are lit? <[8-) (wish i could make a better tinfoil hat symbol)

Well it is certainly not going to be ABC, NBC, or CBS. Heck, their too busy trying to get Rove fired.

Ok, I'd like to revise that. It is conceivable, if unlikely, that they could have obtained a device from Pakistan. But that (1) would be large and unwieldy (not a "suitcase") and (2) would be at most one bomb, not 20.

If nuclear devices are set off by Islamic extremists in this country Mecca will be reduced to a glob of radioactive glass in less than 12 hours ... guaranteed.

I'd bet you 5 bucks that mecca wouldn't be nuked in retaliation. I'd also pay off with a huge smile on my face if necessary.

I agree with some of Savage's assertions that the Prez is not doing enough about border security, but when he had that sleeper cell/suitcase/nuke guy on yesterday, he maintained that Bush is the worst president in history. He's certainly no Reagan, but the worst ever?

He also complains that the London bombings are not the only story being covered, and that the Supreme Court is no biggie...

What's a few nukecases anyway?

(We have more than enough NUTCASES in Washington to take care of this little problem. Sleep good tonight knowing your gubmint is doing everything they can to close the 'TERROR-HOLE' we call the border with Mexico.)

Interesting point: I listened to the show yesterday, and at one point Savage asks him why he's doing this three months before the book comes out. He says, "I'm an old man. I want to face God justified."

Now, Williams also wrote a book accusing the Vatican of being in bed with the Sicilian Mafia. Ironically, he accuses the Sicilian Mafia of being in on this so-called suitcase nuke scenario. Now permit me to deduce (my best guess) the following:

1. Paul Williams is a fundamentalist Christian.
2. Being such, he has a keen interest in eschatology.
3. He may even harbor ill will towards the Catholic Church.
4. Williams allows his beliefs ("I want to be justified") to give credibility to the notion that the Apocalypse (because that's what 40 nuclear bombs would cause) is upon us.

He's nuts. There may be elements of truth (hey, a broken clock is right twice a day), but this has zero credibility beyond the theoretical truth that Al Qaeda would like to nuke our asses.

I agree for the most part. I think Pakistan would be a more likely source, but then we have the problem of them actually moving a large weapon around... which is undoubtedly very difficult. I don't know nuclear physics, so I won't comment too much on the actuality of them having a workable weapon. But, I do know how al Qaida operates... and I know they want one. The complete and utter dismissals I keep reading on this board are almost frightening though, I must say.

We won't nuke anyone. The response will be to show restraint that too many innocents will die and that we should not sink to their level.

Of course they want them. But to say, without evidence, that there are 40 terrorist nukes in the US is outrageous.

The panic they could cause would almost be enough. So, using Occam's Razor as a gauge, why haven't they done this yet if they have them? Somewhere - anywhere? Talk about getting leverage.

I'm not saying there aren't any, just that they're not anything like that many. And they don't have nuclear weapons, either, or they'd have used them.

You know, what is as dangerous as the terrorists themselves is the cavalier "Fortress America" attitude. If 9/22 didn't shatter that illusion or the millions of unknown illegals pouring across our borders doesn't make you pause and think, then you are either intentionally being naive or are an

FWIW, this information has been around much longer than this recent WMD article. Even the Clinton administration believed it was possible... a book by the name "The Age of Sacred Terror," discussed many of the same things that Williams first presented in Osama's Revenge (released last yr). That book was made up of almost entirely open source data, and a lot of it checked out. We even have PhD authors such as Graham Allison (of the LIBERAL Harvard University) claiming that there will be a nuclear attack on the U.S. at some point, possibly this year. People are quick to dismiss because of the source, without investigating further.
