Um right. If Al Qaeda had even one suitcase nuke, they'd have used it long ago. And the notion of 5000 sleeper cells is ridiculous.

5000 Wahhabi (ie, Saudi Funded) Mosques = 5000 sleeper cells.

Not so far-fetched, ask the Brits.

HE said 5000 sleeper cell INDIVIDUALS -- or 5000 murderous lunatics, take your pick.

And what makes you think they haven't already tried to set one off? People are working really hard to make sure that doesn't happen. But we'll never know about it because the Feds don't want us panicking and staying home from Wal-Mart!

I concur, that would mean each cell had 1000-1600 members. One or two million cells is more likly.

i DON'T think that the notion of 5,000 Jihadi sleeper cells is crazy at all.

The FBI or Homeland Security estimated a conservative estimate of 3,000 MAINLAND CHINESE SPY CELLS and speculated that there were many more they didn't have a clue about.

The Jihadi's are a lot more rabid and energetic about such things than the Chinese--who are plenty energetic toward stealing our secrets.

Wake up and smell the looming . . . destruction.

Not 5000 sleeper cells, but 5000 individuals in sleeper cells.

I find that number very realistic.

The argument that "if Al Qaeda had a nuke in the US, they would have used it long ago" is dangerously ignorant.

It is a self-defeating argument.

Look at the premise of the argument: IT IS A FACT that Al Qaeda wants to get a nuke into the US and use it.

We know that Al Qaeda is trying to acomplish this at its highest levels.

Based on what we all know about the availability of this material, regardless of how difficult it is to obtain and smuggle, it is also completely logical to assume it is only a matter of time until Al Qaeda deploys a nuke inside the US.

The probability is high that Al Qaeda has already moved the necessary components into the US.

It is completely possible that they are waiting for the best time and choosing the best place to deploy this weapon.

To assume they do not have one simply because they have not detonated one yet is pure folly and ignorance.

We know that Al Qaeda intends to nuke us and we know that it can be done. The only thing we don't know is how far along they are.

So what you are saying is "Don't worry. They can not be close to completing their goal . . . because they have not yet completed their goal."

What nonsense. And anyone who finds comfort in this nonsense is a bigger fool than you.

The Islamists had the means, motive and opportunity to perpetrate the attacks on New York and Washington long before September 11, 2001.

I'm not sure about these suitcase nuke stories either, but just because they haven't attacked doesn't mean they can't attack. The monsters have patience that most Americans can't even comprehend.

I don't give much credence to the claim of all those nukes myself, but the idea that there can't possibly be even one in the country because they would have definitely used it by now strikes me as rather specious logic.

9/11 was a plan literally years in the making, and the 9/11 hijackers were in the country for quite some time plotting, coordinating, and preparing. Furthermore, we know that they have a preference for well-coordinated simultaneous multiple attacks. They bide their time and plan carefully in order to wreak the most havoc possible.

Yes, but the notion of 5,000 hard core or fifth column or supporting/looking the other way ISLAMIST INDIVIDUALS the USA is not a far out concept!

Not necessarily. Why just set off one nuke in a mall in Nebraska. You get more bang for your buck if you use several in many places at one time. Greater attention to the act, hurt the economy worse, etc. As for 5,000 cells, that would not surprise me in the least bit. There are over 11 million illegal aliens in this country now. Millions more that came here legally that may not just be here to be future Americans, but rather here to kill a few thousand of us. Look have they have swarmed into Europe. They are doing it here. If you refuse to see that, you are making a mistake. The bad guys are here. They intend to do harm. Count on it big time. We are not "SAFE" from an attack within.

They will use them to destroy our economy. They will wait for high gas prices and deficit spending to peak.

I'm not with you in that opinion. If they act on the U.S., my guess is that it will be on multiple cities at once. That coordination takes time to set up. And these terrorist are known to pick dates that have significance.

They may have been ready long ago but the date has not arrived.

On the 5,000 sleepers, that may be a bit high. Seems an awfully big network to support and keep secret. But, consider what just 100 people could do.

Not that it has not been said before, but seeing the warning on FR "Loose lips sink ships" I will not go into all that these 100 people could do. The point is, even if it is not 5,000, one hundred would be bad.
