Joe Wilson admits wife was not undercover when identified
Wolf Blitzer - CNN Transcripts ^ | 7/14/2005 | Macsmind

Posted on 07/14/2005 8:15:17 PM PDT by macsmind76

BLITZER: But the other argument that's been made against you is that you've sought to capitalize on this extravaganza, having that photo shoot with your wife, who was a clandestine officer of the CIA, and that you've tried to enrich yourself writing this book and all of that.

What do you make of those accusations, which are serious accusations, as you know, that have been leveled against you.

WILSON: My wife was not a clandestine officer the day that Bob Novak blew her identity.

BLITZER: But she hadn't been a clandestine officer for some time before that?

WILSON: That's not anything that I can talk about. And, indeed, I'll go back to what I said earlier, the CIA believed that a possible crime had been committed, and that's why they referred it to the Justice Department.

She was not a clandestine officer at the time that that article in Vanity Fair appeared. And I have every right to have the American public know who I am and not to have myself defined by those who would write the sorts of things that are coming out, being spewed out of the mouths of the RNC...

Amazing. Democrats never have to answer for their crimes. Republicans have to answer to accusations that their actions were crimes that don't even exist.

Gary Condit, Ted Kennedy, Bob Torricelli, and others too numerous to mention never have to answer for their crimes.

MoveOn uses their money to hold protests that receive national coverage. The RNC uses their money to try to get more money from me.

Please tell me what benefit it has been to spend all of my adult life working for Republicans to get into power at the state and national level.

Too many people in the GOP are more concerned with sucking up to the MSM than doing the job that the voters and volunteers elected them to do.

Our so-called leaders in the Senate are letting the Dems walk all over us.

See, I don't count those as Dems losses. All of these absurd allegations have hurt Bush and the Republicans' approval ratings and cowed them into trying to make nice with the MSM and the Democratic Party.

The accusations always stick more than the exoneration washed things away. This is why we are still at the starting gate on SS Reform. This is why we have Sellout Senators. This is why we have Democrat-started ineffective government programs getting bigger and bigger each year. This is why we are fighting the War on Terror with one arm tied behind our back.

Bottom line is this: President Bush has jump-started the economy, spread freedom around the world, prosecuted corporate crooks-- and barely won re-election against a traitorous, pompous buffoon.

I just heard him say on FOX that (paraphrasing) even though no law may have been broken, this is a serious ethics violation by this administration, yada, yada

IOW, it's not the nature of the evidence but the seriousness of the accusation.

With his quest for his 15 minutes, this guy is the one who blew her cover, if there was one to blow, every way he could.

What a shoe salesman - get a haircut Joe or at least a trim.

You've misinterpreted what he said. He means that "as of the moment that Novak wrote her name, she was ipso facto no longer clandestine."

As for whether or not she was "under cover" before that, he dodges the question, but he does not say what you claim he says here. I wish he had.

The Wilson thing didn't turn out a year ago. Not only did the Senate discredit him, but sKerry dropped him like a hot potato. You know you're a Loser when even sKerry won't touch you.

She was undercover, then she is undercover.

Dems really have problems with the meaning of the word "is"

Why in the world are all you Freepers picking on my good friend, Joe Wilson?

It makes me heartsick to know that Joe's long, most honorable and totally selfless service to our nation is subject to such unjustified ridicule.

No wonder such stalwart national leaders as Kennedy, Pelosi, and Chuckie Baby have had to enter this sordid fray on behalf of mainstream America.

Shame on you!

**S** Have a great Weekend, fellow Freepers!

Time for Wilson to start frog jumping to prison. He outed his wife even though it really wasn't an outing.

She outed herself sometime in the last decade.

She hasn't been an agent nor a special intel person for a long time.

She probably had business cards with her CIA phone number and speciality.

I think I still have some of those cards I got from non agents who worked for the agency from 1964-70.

The lying bastards at the NY Slimes admitted way back that Plame was probably outed by Aldrich Ames before his arrest in 1994.

""The C.I.A. suspected that Aldrich Ames had given Mrs. Wilson's name (along with those of other spies) to the Russians before his espionage arrest in 1994," revealed the New York Times on Saturday."

Valerie Plame Outed as CIA Agent Long Before Novak Column (by Aldrich Ames to the Russians)
NewsMax.com ^ | Saturday Oct. 11, 2003 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

Valerie Plame, wife of Leakgate accuser Joseph Wilson, was outed as a CIA agent at least nine years before conservative columnist Robert Novak supposedly blew her cover three months ago in his column.

"The C.I.A. suspected that Aldrich Ames had given Mrs. Wilson's name (along with those of other spies) to the Russians before his espionage arrest in 1994," revealed the New York Times on Saturday.

In a column revealing the critical information for the first time since the Leakgate scandal exploded two weeks ago, Times columnist Nicholas Kristof explained that the Ames tip compromised Valerie Plame's undercover secrecy so thoroughly that "she was brought back to Washington for safety reasons."

At the time, he noted, Mrs. Wilson "was already in transition away from undercover work to management, and to liaison roles with other intelligence agencies. So this year, even before she was outed, she was moving away from 'noc' -- which means non-official cover."

What's more, said the Times writer, Mrs. Wilson's intelligence connections became known a bit in Washington as she rose in the C.I.A. - an assessment that stands in marked contrast to Mr. Wilson's portrayed of his wife's identity as being so secret that she was endangered when Novak revealed her name.

Concludes Kristof:

"All in all, I think the Democrats are engaging in hyperbole when they describe the White House as having put Mrs. Wilson's life in danger and destroyed her career; her days skulking along the back alleys of cities like Beirut and Algiers were already mostly over."
