I loved reading about Free Republic's founder and the catalyst for his courageous activism. He went head to head with Slick Willie's legal henchmen and stood his ground. Thank God for sites like this. Without media watchdogs like the Freepers, the purchase of Clinton/Gore's 1996 re-election by Chinese arms merchants would have gone unreported and there would be no one to counter the journalistic fraud of the Socialist controled "fourth estate". What this article demonstrates is the ultimate trimph of one of the tenants of Alvin Toffler's landmark book, The Third Wave.

One chapter of that book, "De-Massifying the Media," predicted that as communications technologies improve the hammerlock of information control by the mainstream media will come to an end. Since the publication of The Third Wave in 1979, the rise of 60+ channel cable TV, 120+ channel digital cable TV, 200+ channel satellite TV, the public Internet, the rapid rise of talk radio, and dramatically reduced periodical production costs have resulted in enormous erosion of MSM influence. Why do you think the subscription rates for the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Tribune, and a myriad of other newspapers have taken a nosedive?

They use similar wording and details, and three of the letters were sent on the same day, Dec. 5. The timing and language suggests that this was a concerted effort. Some person or group did the legal research on Robinson and his website, uncovering all his past and present business affiliations, and distributed a legal brief to the news organizations Times Mirror, Dow Jones, Reuters and Washington Post."

The Washington Weekly identified Debevoise and Plimpton – a law firm used by the Clintons and the Democratic National Committee – as the coordinator of the attack.

And still some on this board are dull enough to threaten a vote for Hillary. The next time I see one of those posters, they're gonna get this.

What a great synopsis this is of the essence and spirit of the Free Republic and its members.

We have a voice that is being heard, thanks to Jim Robinson!

When we are united with one purpose, to expose the lies and deceptions of politicians and public figures our "voice" can be heard more clearly and more loudly than all the broadcasts of paid media "spinners" who are obligated to either their employers or a cause to which they have allied themselves. We are not obligated to anyone but ourselves, and our desire for truth and justice drives and unites us. We do not need the approval of a boss or board to research and post information. We do not owe favors to political entities, and we fear no threats from those in powerful positions. Ours is a mission for finding and exposing the real story - it is that simple.

Thanks to Jim we have been empowered as "Davids" who can bring down the Goliaths in the battle of disseminating information. Those giants are not so powerful anymore as they stand guard of all the hidden agendas and attempts to create and perpetuate the lies of their cohorts who desire only to destroy our freedoms and control our thinking. We know they are paying attention by their reactions to, and retaliations toward us. It is also obvious that they are running scared and loosing ground in this “war of the words” that they once controlled.

I remember the frustration shared by so many of us during the Clintoon's first and second term.

We knew the Clintoons, their cabinet and staff were criminals. Only Rush was getting the story out and a few news letters of limited scope were on the trail.

I was a member of Prodigy and felt the total frustration of having anything critical removed by the mods on their site.

We went to Britain the Summer of 1996, and I couldn't believe what the Times and the other conservative Brit newspapers were saying and printing about the Clintoons. I collected a lot of the articles and brought them home to share with friends. We had to fly to the UK to read news paper articles that dared to say the Clintoons were crooks.

I joined FR in August of 2000, was basically a lurker until the attempted election coup by Gore and the MSM. Then I became active.

The time from the election to the Supreme Court opinion was a dark and dangerous time for us and America. Free Republic was the only real way for us to know what was happening and to have data to share with our friends and relatives.

I developed a 50 person key email list, and would send a couple of the best links to that list. The list smoked out a couple of pseudo conservatives, who hated GW more than the outspoken liberals. They went off my list. If I didn't send something for a couple of days, I would have emails from those on my list wanting to know if I was okay.

History will probably show that Freepers around the nation as Richard pointed out had an incredible impact on preventing the Rat coup.

The Blather/Mapes memo koed by Buckhead and Howlin and others was another great moment. I had followed the destruction of that lie on FR after the lies aired on CBS.

The next morning I had an email with the famous memo actually being changed in front of us on our monitors.

That went out immediately to my list. The response was incredible, and most of my recipients emailed it to their lists. Before the day was over, I was getting my original email with the changing memo from people who I hadn't sent it to.

The Buckhead/Howlin derailment of Blather/Mapes turned the rat victory into defeat and the eventual sacking of those involved.

Each Freepathon many of us ask where would we/America be without Free Republic?
