Only W CAN THINK HE KNOWS (ANN COULTER WAS RIGHT)

A small town in Indiana and a brief filed saying that Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided are entirely positive signs on first inspection, but the second reveals only a leaning and not a falling off on one side or the other. This is, of course, by White House design for the public understanding of Judge Roberts. Bush has exhibited his recurrent traits and examining G.W. Bush right now is the only way to know what really is in the heart of Judge Roberts.

Roberts is deliberately without much record. He is deliberately congenial and with friends all around. He is deliberately professionally competent, hard to make controversial – fine. I say "deliberately" on Bush's part – it is unknown if Judge Roberts has achieved his stealth status by his own design or by chance. Seemingly driven, popular success would encourage an individual to remain somewhat vanilla, but great strategists also sometimes hold their tongue and bide their time. We don't know, and that's the point.

You were quick with the phony and my guess is that you have never read any of my posts. If you have you will see that I repeat over and over that I am a CONSERVATIVE not a republican.

I belong to NO party. For whatever reason too many people here cannot fathom that there is a difference. Miss Coulter is also a conservative and many here have done their best to offend her because she does not agree with the party line.

In war one keeps all of his allies, you may not like them but just perhaps they do not like you either. Driving away conservatives is very foolish.

Thank you for your post.

A few of us have been trying to say these things but the "conservatives" here are so rabidly in agreement with Leiberman the liberal about Roberts being the greatest candidate that they are ready to take down one of the few people who has been willing to do battle for truly conservative values. They figure on shooting or wounding their own if they can.

I doubt that Ann would be any less willing to applaud Roberts if he turns out to be conservative instead of moderately liberal than the rest of us would be to cheer him, too.

Roberts is the Rhenquist replacement/protege. If Rhenquist doesn't retire now he will have outfoxed Bush to be certain to take the court farther away from the Scalia/Thomas view and toward the kind of ruling on eminent domain he recently backed.

Most of us, by far, want FR to continue to be a conservative site for conservatives.

I'm new here this year, and find it a very useful informative forum. Its a popular place with lots of participants. Just like the republican party, as the band wagon gets bigger it gets harder to be organized, cohesive on on point. We spend a bunch of time talking about Natalie Holloway, a day in the life of Pres Bush, obligatory Ann Coulter pictures, etc. but its all interesting to those who want to participate in those threads. What I enjoy is the interchange of ideas. Everyone gets equal weight here. The only thing that counts is what you say, and how much sense you make. I love that I don't even know who I'm talking to. Age, sex, color, race, height, hair color, breast size, matter not. Its just your ideas, and do they make sense. It is truly a FREE REPUBLIC. Lets see the glass half full because its really actually to the brim. I never contribute money to anything, especially causes, but when I saw that this place operates for 250k per year and collects only 55k of that from us, I immediately sent 50 bucks, and will do that as often as I can.
Nothing gets by these people, our eyes are always open ever vigilant, maybe you've been here to long and are just taking some important things for granted.

But drop the "I know what's best" crap.
****************
I never said I know what's best- I don't. I do know from my Christian upbringing that you don't attack a lady in this fashion, I know that you don't show disloyalty to someone who has been loyal to you. I know in my heart that I am speaking for gentleman like Jim and Dubya. And I know that I am right in defending a friend and lady so abused.
You've been on the Board 2 years. With you're experience, why didn't you speak these universal truths first- then I wouldn't have to come to the defense of the spirit of this Judeo-Christian conservative Board.
Finally, I'll "cool it" anytime Jim or the Mods tell me to do so. Thanks.

All of you guys (and gals) who are sooo certain that Roberts is going to be bad, get a life. President Bush jas done a pretty darn good job of whipping the Dims up till now. You all sound like a bunch of whiney Liberals.

Annie may be right, she quite often is, but she has darn little to go on this time. Remember, as Dennis Miller said, Democrats believe too much on their guess work, looks like to me that you are all following in their footsteps. I personally trust Bush's judgement in this. The one thing I know about Bush 43 is that he is a man of his word. He may have been fooled, but I seriously doubt it. I heard Dick Cheney talking about this choice on Rush yesterday, and what I heard, I liked.

All of you nervous Nellies take a chill pill. Bush does not worry about polls or legacies, he said he would appoint someone like Scalia or Thomas, I'm willing to bet that Roberts will turn out to be very close to that.

As to this Conservative BS, I for one do not want a conservative or liberal on the court, I want a strict originalist. I don't want your Religious views, or his Religious views, or my Religious views imposed on this Nation, I want the Nation that Jefferson, Madison, Washington, and Franklin left us. I want freedom of religion not state religion. I too hope that Roe is overturned, not for moral reasons (although I agree there), but because it was the single worst SCOTUS decision since Dred Scott.

I love Annie, but she ain't perfect. She's a bomb thrower and as such she has to expect some heat. I am thoroughly confident that she can handle it, she's been in this game long enough to have seen it all. Grow up ya'll, it's a tough world out there.

Have a little faith, In God's world, things invariably work out for the best.

The following should solve many questions conservatives have about the thinking of Judge Roberts. This comes from NRO - Bench memos. Here’s a tough test: Let’s say that you were a police officer and at 1:00 a.m. you spot a car without a functioning light for its license plate. You pull the car over and conduct a records check, which indicates that the car’s temporary license tags had been reported stolen. You also discover that those tags had been altered to match the car. The car’s driver can’t produce the car’s registration or a driver’s license. A check of the vehicle identification number indicates that the car had once been registered in Virginia but is no longer registered there.

Might it be reasonable to think that the car might have been stolen? Not according to the two Democrat appointees in the opinion issued by the D.C. Circuit today in United States v. Jackson. But yes, in Judge Roberts’s view in dissent.

Next question: Might it be reasonable to think that the car’s trunk might contain some evidence—the car’s real tags, items identifying or belonging to the real owner, or tools used in car theft—that the car was stolen? Let’s say, further, that you had run across stolen tags on ten previous occasions and that on six or seven of those occasions the vehicle’s real tags were found in the trunk. Is it reasonable to check the trunk? Again, not according to the two Democrat appointees. But yes, according to Judge Roberts’s dissent.

My favorite part of the majority opinion is the assertion that real tags in a trunk simply can’t be evidence of a crime “because there is nothing illegal about having such tags in the trunk of an unregistered car.” There’s nothing illegal either about having blood all over the floor of a room in your house where a person is thought to have been killed. But that might fairly be considered evidence.

It seems to me that some Democrats were calling for a nominee with common sense—a quality particularly appropriate to Fourth Amendment judgments of reasonableness. I think it’s clear that President Bush has given them one.

One way to disrupt this board and sow dissension is to pose as a "defender" of Bush and hurl insults and abuse at any conservative who disagrees. That way you get to smear Coulter while keeping the conservative mask on.

Hadn't considered that. Good point.

Another way to disrupt the forum is to also do the opposite.

Trolls have tried both tactics a number of times.

Tommie baby ----

What's got into ya'll tonight? Most honorable right of center conservatives and Christian conservatives are pleased with the nomination. And you should be too.

But I'll tell you what...Republicans are gonna be awfully upset if the new guy rules with the left wing on the SC this fall. Given that scenario - political blood will spill.
