LONDON Suspect's killing by police rattles a city on edge
San Francisco Chronicile ^ | 7/23/05 | Alan Cowell, NYT

London -- At about 10 a.m. on a sunny, summery Friday morning, London crossed a once-unthinkable line in its unfolding war on terror.

In a city where most police officers do not carry guns, the shock from the shooting death of a man in a subway car was palpable. It raised questions about police firearms practices, kindled uncertainty among Muslims and deepened the anxiety of a city that looks, these days, under siege.

The police said they had trailed a man, described as South Asian in appearance, from a house in Stockwell, a hardscrabble neighborhood of South London. He was clad in bulky clothes on a warm summer's day, witnesses said. He vaulted over a turnstile and dashed onto a train, with plainclothes police officers right behind him.

The police said the man did not obey orders to stop, so the officers shouted at the passengers to get down and take cover.

The man stumbled onto a train, and a passenger, Mark Whitby, told the BBC: "I looked at his face. He looked sort of left and right, but he basically looked like a cornered rabbit, a cornered fox. He looked absolutely petrified, and then he sort of tripped, but they were hotly pursuing him."

The officers "couldn't have been any more than two or three feet behind him at this time," Whitby said, "and he half tripped and was half pushed to the floor, and the policeman nearest to me had the black automatic pistol in his left hand."

The officer with the gun "held it down to the guy and unloaded five shots into him," Whitby said.

Roger Hitchcock, filling in for Rush, said yesterday there was a problem. L.A. police took over 2000 shots to slightly wound a suspect while the Brits got 5 good shots in the head. Our national reputation is on the line. We have to do better!

Article also states, "News of the shooting death of the suspect in the Stockwell tube station raised concern among Britain's Muslim population and Londoners who worried whether an innocent man might have died in Britain's rush to respond to terrorism."

Gee, are they trying to tell us that the Muslim population has suddenly become concenred about "innocent" people being killed? Not real quick, are they?

Ethnicity and religious affiliation are for the most part tied directly to the war we face.
Most Christians are Caucasian and Hispanic, Arabs and Blacks historically Muslim, Asians- Buddhist.
Muslims hate Caucasians (Christians) because they historically support Jews and interact socially.
So indeed this war is not only religious, but race related.
I'm with your analysis!

Maybe you should ask an Israeli soldier-- I don't think they'd have any problem explaining why shooting a guy running away from security with a heavy coat on in the summer is the only course of action.

Dead men don't detonate suicide belts.

The man boarded the train without a ticket. Case closed.

I still stand by my proposition, but I should add Rules #2 and 3 to make sure you don't get shot by the police:

2. Don't look suspicious

3. Don't act suspicious

Don't you think the road always leads back to their absolute hatred of America and Americans, these same people never heard of Afghanistan Iraq or Palestine, till they thought they could take on America with 911, the rest of there ideology is bunkum. its America that burns at there heart.

I wish to congratulate the London plain clothes anti-terrorist commandoes for putting down the enemy like the dog he was, on the spot.

Now THAT's more like it (in a news headline). Nice one Brits.

The other terrorist symps and bleeding hearts, who reflect that liberalism is a mental disorder bent on having people destroy themselves and their society through crippling political correctness, can just stuff it.

These British poll numbers of SUPPORT or even tacit UNDERSTAND and lukewarm support, for acts of mass destruction, are WAY TO HIGH and unnacceptable for a society trying to eliminate terrorists. Well into the mid 20% figure!

They are most definitely, most clearly in our midst now. How would these figures even differ from within the hundreds of thousands Muslims in the United States already here from many overseas nations.

kindled uncertainty among Muslims

Muslims NEED more uncertainty!

Muslims NEED to know that if one of their own
blows up a school, bad things are going to happen
TO THEM.

The tabloids say what is on the minds of all good and decent men and women worldwide, in this day and age of islamofascist terrorism.

The PC whiners would require the Police to act like this: "Stop! or you'll get a time-out !!!!"

You say, "Headphones?
AFAIK, there was only one witness to state this."

Well, as far as I know, there was only one witness who felt the man looked like a cornered rabbit and we've read that quote a million times. Most of us have a hard time drumming up sympathy for him. Others have described a coat that was too thick for the weather, etc. Yet, to read the papers all we hear about are the fear of the man in question and the "worry" that other Muslims feel.

**I am all for blowing the terrorist to Hell, but I have not heard an explanation of why they pumped 5 rounds into this kids brain. ***

On another thread it was pointed out that he was shot in the head because a shot to the body might set off any explosives he might be carrying.
He was shot many times to make sure he was DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, so, if only wounded, he might still get to his detonator button.

I and live with that!

I love the masthead on the Daily Express...the drawing of a Crusader Knight. I wonder how many Muslims buy that paper?
