"On second thought, five slugs in the back of the head works quite nicely. Why mess with success?"

I suppose they could have sliced his head off. That works quite nicely too.

Hey, if you can have an 'Asian American' according to the strict PC rules strictly observed on this forum too, then why not an 'Asian South American'? Of course, an Asian from the continent of Asia (such as an Israeli or a Siberian Russian, yes?) would be 'Asian Asian' and an 'American Asian' who moves to Asia would be an 'Asian American Asian'. PC can be quite complicated and there are higher degrees in it, you bet.

Does anyone know why this man was running? It seems smarter to lay down when the police, who are pointing guns at your head, tell you to. Or was this guy just late for his ride when he ran into the subway?

Maybe he saw a guy in plain clothes point a gun at him, and he ran. Is that strange?

If he had been a bomber, and the cops kept telling him to stop and he didn't, and set off a bomb. They would all be singing a different tune. I can just hear them, "They should have killed him, he was running from them and wearing a coat." Blah blah, blah.

Maybe not. The Brits might have blamed the police for chasing the guy in the first place. The police being there at all must have been why terrorists wanted to set off the bomb.

Kind of, when they are yelling "stop police." Have you ever known anyone to outrun a gun? And why would anyone run into a subway car? Wouldn't a person want to run to where he couldn't be so easily cornered?

Food for thought:

"However, there was very little doubt most of these visitors went on to find their way to the triple border region where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet. This region, often described as a lawless area, is nicknamed by some intelligence station agents as "The Muslim Triangle meeting zone."

Further to the south in Latin America, Hezbollah and the terrorist Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) are operating in the tri-border region of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. The suspected activities of these groups include counterfeiting U.S. currency and drug smuggling, with the area in which they function described as a "haven for Islamic extremists" by the administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Asa Hutchinson, in testimony before the House International Relations Committee

More recently, al-Qaida has become deeply involved in cocaine and heroine trafficking, arms and uranium smuggling, counterfeiting CDs and DVDs and money-laundering activities in the tri-border region of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. The tri-border region is known as the heart of Islamic activity in Latin America."

And

"According to intelligence sources within the federal police, there is an investigation under way to verify if Khalid Sheikh Mohammed visited the triple border area where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet. The area has a strong Moslem community and has been suspected of harbouring terrorist fundraising activity."

Let's keep an open mind. A man coming from a suspected terrorist connection apartment, and then running onto the subway in a coat in the warm London summer, refusing excited multiple police commands to halt! while the immediate area is in a STATE OF WAR (in other words, running and not looking back, although others around him dropped to the floor when ordered--this should be understood in any language), seems to me to have perhaps had something to hide. See the movie "The Great Escape" in one of the final scenes at the German train station. You'll get the idea.

Plenty of people have outran guns. And have you ever heard of someone in plainclothes lying about being a cop?

Psssssst...the man killed by the London cops was innocent. Does his life count any less then any of those who died on 9/11?

The one in London was suspected of being a suicide bomber. Those on 9-11 weren't.

Killed: Jean Charles Menezes, 26 years, from Gonzaga, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Legally in the country of UK, fluent in ENGLISH (according to relatives).

It will be interesting to see if he is Muslim, and if he was part of the mosque the terrorist bombers were a part of. It will be interesting to see what connection he has in terms of coming out of the same house as that which is connected with the terrorist bombings. If it turns only even that he was a Muslim, that seals it for me.

Stop! Halt! Please be aware that anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Are you now or have you ever been a member of a terrorist network? If you are a member of a terrorist network, please signal by detonating your bombs. Be advised that by detonating your bombs, we will take this as extreme evidence of your involvement in terrorist activities and we will open fire.

And that's just what they're advocating. I think I'm in DU land sometimes.

He was Catholic. And he came out of an apartment building, not a home.

Blame? I don't blame cops for doing their job. They saw a threat, and took that threat out.

This is in the Brit papers today: "Menezes' family was Roman Catholic. When asked if he had become Muslim in Britain, Agostino Ferreira Rosa, a policeman in Gonzaga said: ``According to his family, he had nothing to do with Muslims or Islamism. He was Catholic.''

``There was no reason to think he was a terrorist,'' Menezes' grandmother, Zilda Ambrosia de Figueiredo, told the Globo TV late Saturday. ``He was very easygoing and very communicative with everybody. It's terrible what they have done to him.''

And I'll find the apartment info and post, if it isn't clear soon.
