Worried that the tone of the immigration debate is pushing Latinos away from the Republican Party, the White House is working with political strategists to create a broad coalition of business groups and immigrant advocates to back a plan President Bush could promote in Congress and to minority voters in the 2006 elections.
The strategists say Bush is planning to make immigration a top priority as soon as this fall, once the focus on a Supreme Court vacancy has passed.
A guest-worker program is favored by many Latinos and by businesses, many of them major GOP donors that depend on a steady flow of workers from Mexico and other countries. The White House effort is aimed at satisfying these groups while promoting tougher border security enforcement. The latter focus is an attempt to mollify a vocal bloc of cultural conservatives in the GOP some in the House leadership who argue that undocumented workers present a security threat and take some jobs

Commander Ivanova is God!
Since you have so much compassion for Illegal Mexican immigrants I nominate you to go down there and teach them how to overcome the negative political and economical forces in their country. They have just as abundant source of natural resources and tourist attractions as the US and should be encouraged to stay there and learn to utilize these resources. Remember the old adage regarding giving one a fish as opposed to teaching one how to fish. It should be a snap for a person of your talents.
Just think Bayourod, your name could go down in history as the person who leads the Mexican peons to prosperity!
When you are done could you please erase the MS13 graffiti off the fence down the street?
He won't, and you can take that to the bank. House members lose their seats if they run for president. Tancredo is a loser that just happened to stumble into a Congressipnal seat. He can never do better and he isn't about to give it up.
The Buchanans have said that if he doesn't run they will find someone else to be their sock puppet. They're already looking for someone. Any guesses? What about that Chris Simcox character? Or does he have too many robes in his closet?
No. You can never have too many robes for the Buchanan crowd. (or hammers and sickles).
So, you heard it here first! Simcox will replace Tancredo as the Buchanan sock Puppet for president. Lance Armstrong will be his VP if his old lady can talk him into it.
Note to self: bookmark this post for 2008.
Well .. I just sent in a survey by the House repubs - biggest issue was immigration. I believe the WH has had a wake-up call with the Minuteman program.
I put a lot of emphasis on the issue and reminded them that during WWII we had what was called "spotters". They were volunteers (don't know what arm of law inforcement trained or supervised them), who did just about what the Minutemen are doing now. There's no reason why we can't do it again. I know a lot of people would feel more secure if they could be involved in securing their own country.
(don't make me pull out my tapes of the episodes!)
Ivanova herself said it, in one episode. I think she was lecturing Mr. Garibaldi. Season one or two.
" Put the blame on the right people, the Buchanan/Tancredo fear mongers."
Bayourod, I have seen you promote lies in almost every thread I've ever seen you participate in. hopefully freepers in this thread will read your previous posts below and recognize that you are merely a troll.
bayourod in the past has stated that immigration/borders is a small issue which the american people do not care about, only a small # on FR. when asked to post evidence, he/she is nowhere to be found

"Tancredo and his followers are bumbling fools."
It's even worse than that. ****They are against the war in Iraq.******* It is part of their isolationist philosophy as enunciated by their prophet Buchanan.
****They opposed President Bush sending troops to Iraq in the beginning. *****They want the troops brought back now to guard the border and they want the money being spent on Iraq to be spent building a wall around our borders.

The Secretary of Homeland Defense testified before two Congressional committees last week that in order for him to secure the border against terrorists it is necessary for Congress to enact certain legislation that would allow his border guards to work more effectively detecting smugglers and terrorists.
Tancredo immediately announced that he would oppose such legislation
If Tancredo and his followers manage to block the legislation necessary to keep terrorists from crossing the border, and as a result an American city is bombed, the blood will be on the hands of Tancredo and his followers.

Not me. As I've posted before, I have no affinity for Mexicans or Americans of Hispanic descent.
To recognize that foreign laborers are essential right now to sustaining our economy does not mean that I am particularly fond of Hispanics.
I don't speak Spanish, have Hispanic relatives, work with Hispanic or have any close Hispanic friends.
To recognize that fences cannot stop men willing to risk their lives to feed their families does not mean that I like those men. It just means that I understand the nature of the problem.
If I had my personal preference, instead of Mexican laborers, we would have Western European laborers with blond hair and blue eyes pouring across our borders bringing their beautiful daughters. But that isn't reality. Neither is "sealing the border".
To recognize that Republicans must not unnecessarily alienate Hispanic voters with gratuitous insults if we hope to keep Hillary out of the White House is not the same as saying that I want to invite them to live in my house.
However all my relations with Hispanics have been good. Can't say that about Nigerians and half a dozen other types.
yup , can't we send a note to W saying , "Mr. President, we're part of the reason you were re-elected,we love ya,PLEASE OH PLEASE,don't do anything regarding illegal immigration, except yer normal platitudes,...we'll do our own work on this in '06,'08 and when yer out of office ,...thanks
I had a relative who was a spotter along the California coast for (I believe) the Civil Defense during WWII. He had no particular qualifications other than owning a car, binoculars, a flashlight and having lots of time on his hands. He was given an area of coastline to watch and told to report anything unusual.
I have pessimistically excepted this premis for some time, may God forgive us what we have done to our children.
Enjoy your "Latino" votes, Republican politicians. Too bad whites, blacks, Asians, Native Americans and even patriotic, legal Hispanics will all be voting against you.
Really, GW Bush wants the "culture to be wrecked". Huh I guess a constituttional ban on homosexual marriage is like a car running into a tree to you.
BTW, now do you see how absurd you sound.
Things quiet in hillary's basement today?
You think tancredo will get the nod over allen?
