Lawrence Sidney Eagleburger

(August 1, 1930-) was born in Milwaukee. Described as a career diplomat, Eagleburger joined the Foreign Service in 1957 and held a series of embassy, State Department, national security, and Defense Department posts before serving as Ambassador (1977-81) to Yugoslavia. Prayer Request for Secretary Eagleburger

I have a friend who is retired from a career with the CIA. He is very close friends with Former Secretary of State Eagleberger. He had been keeping me informed on the Secretary's poor health. I asked him if he wanted me to put in a prayer request in Free Republic. He replied:

Larry is in terrible health. Would he mind your posting something on Free Republic? Probably. But pls do so anyway ... he can use prayers. And thanx.

Our Heaven Father,

I pray on behalf of Lawrence Eagleburger. He served our nation for most of his life and now he is in very ill health. I ask You to watch over him and ease his pain and suffering. Your guidance has always lead the way to greater understanding, so I pray You do so for Secretary Eagleberger.

In Jesus name, Amen.

This is bad news indeed. He was always one of my favorites for his tough stand against terrorism years ago.

I will pray for him. He is a great man.

He's always a refreshing, no-bull voice when he gets on the air for an interview. Even if I disagreed with some of his positions I always thought he was saying what he believed was right and true. He was also transparent, in that everytime someone like Alan Colmes asked a silly question, he got this look on his face like "Oh boy, one of these..."

I see a lot of him in John Bolton. We could use more like Sec. Eagleburger, and I hope he gets well.

I am not familiar with him, but I trust the judgement of most FReepers, so I will add my prayers for him.

We ALL need prayers. At some times more than others.
