Mother of boy, 4, left on Beltway sent to jail
The Washington Times ^ | 7-29-05 | Gary Emerling

The woman charged with abandoning her toddler on the side of the Capital Beltway is cooling her heels in the Fairfax County jail. Channoah Alece Green, 22, was scheduled to appear in court yesterday on charges of felony child neglect and hit and run, but officials said she was transferred too late from a regional jail in Hanover. Miss Green is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. today in Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court to be arraigned on the felony charges. Virginia State Police said Miss Green, of Newport News, Va., left her 4-year-old son on the side of the Beltway near Falls Church at about 10 p.m. Tuesday. Police said that as the boy tried to get back into the 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer, his mother bumped him with the car and knocked him down as she drove away, leading to the hit-and-run charge. A driver who asked not to be identified found the boy on the interstate near the Lee Highway overpass and told WJLA-TV (Channel 7) that the toddler jumped into her husband's arms. "I said, 'Why are you out here?' And he said, 'My mommy left me. She was angry and she pushed me out of the car,' " the woman said.

Not a comfortable, or safe, place to be.

This woman reminds of one i had the misfortune of being in a fast food restaurant with the other day. She demanded to have a discontinued discount meal and when told no proceeded to scream abuse at the remarkably polite West African manager. The woman was completely out of control and consumed with irrational rage. Same here it would seem.

Better than having his future depend on his mother.

That poor, poor kid. Breaks your heart.

A mother at the store told her kid who was
running up and down the aisles, "Come here
so I can smack you, Joey". Needless to say,
he took off in the other direction.

That's the trouble, the judge just might give him back to her.

That poor child. It breaks my heart to read these type of stories and sadly there seems to be quite a few idiot people out there abusing their kids.

Forcibly steralize this cow and make her wear an idiot brand for life.

Well, this is good for him, considering her actions. Hopefully he will go to a loving home and not be bounced around the 'system'. What a monster 'mom' is.

Compared to being raised by his "mother" (and I use the term loosely) this kid would be better off being raised by a pack of wolves.

I wonder if her defence argument will be that she needs her kid back so she can still get her gubment cheese.
