I think one started just before the 2004 returns were announced.

Sean, the MSNBC weather guy, said Edwards looks the most favorable a couple hours ago. What are you hearing?
To: leadpenny; All
Don't know, from what I have been seeing on weather.com, it looks like they are going to land at Edwards...

If so they will probably take a shot at Florida. One does not spend an extra million so loudly, when one's job is on the line, and conditions are within the official acceptable range.

Space Shuttle at White Sands
Return to Fact Sheets
At 9:05 a.m. Mountain Standard Time on March 30, 1982, NASA astronauts Jack R. Lousma (commander) and C. Gordon Fullerton (pilot) landed their Space Shuttle Orbiter Columbia at Northrup Strip on White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. This was Columbia's third orbital test flight. The Space Transportation System (STS)-3 flight lasted more than eight days, made 29 Earth orbits, traveling 6.24 million kilometers (3.9 million miles).
