For sure! I got one last week asking me to furnish them a debit card number, or they would cancel my account. Fortunately for me, Don C's mom didn't raise any fools.
You responded to an e-mail about "hacking" that was a fradulent e-mail - Paypal never asks you for this kind of personal information. I have gotten these e-mails a number of times. You have now played into the fraudelent company's hands by responding and they are taking steps toward completely stealing your identity. Forward this e-mail to spoof@paypal.com
Indeed - and the e-mail has hyperlinks that appear to take you to the paypal site, but are really sending you somewhere else.
Folks, this isn't Paypal, this is a scam.
forward all of those to spoof@paypal.com - they are prosecuting those who are engaging in these scams.
That's just a normal Paypal account...
You don't need a utility bill. What Fawn received is a phishing e-mail.
I've had a Paypal account for at least four years and have never had a problem with them.
Then how did PayPal get your mother's bank account information?
Oh, but they do (and then any clicking on them will route your information elsewhere) - and you admitted in the original post that you bought an e-mail before that claimed your account was hacked - one of the typical phishing e-mails. That's how this whole mess has gotten started.
I went two years without using my account and it was never "locked."
If your account has a zero balance, cancel the credit card you've associated with it and walk away.
If PayPal doesn't have your bank account number, they can't do anything to you.
I NEVER give Pay Pal my bank info, only use cards that have technology protection on them. I am reaching my limit though and they are going to get pushy on me giving them my bank info and then I will let them know I will stop using Ebay (which I spend about $500 a year in) and not use paypal anymore.
Send me all your CC numbers, DOB, current adddress, and DL #...so I will be sure that it's you.
I have not signed up yet... should I tell them it is US Bank checking account 9974532 PIN = BOSCO?
I love Paypal. The refunded a large auction payment, even though I made the claim outside their parameters.
I haven't had a problem in over 5 years.
Thanks....
Thank you...I didn't know who to file a complaint with....I'll do that. I also tried to call them again and it is not an toll-free number...so after being on hold for 10 minutes, I hung up.
EXCELLENT...TOLL FREE? THANK YOU! I'm going to call them all the time....until they cancel my account. Could be years.
I'd send them 2 words on a post card with a notice that the credit card that feeds it was cancelled.
There is ZERO reason for thase asshats to be allowed that information.
I really don't remember if I found out my account was hacked because it was locked or if they notified me....either way I'm not stupid enough to answer the spoof emails (which I forward to Spoof@paypal). It was officially hacked...they confirmed when I called them (from a number on their website)...they confirmed it and had immediately put a lock on my account because of it. WHen I asked them to cancel it..they would not...so I immediately canceled that credit card. Since I took no action after 90 days, it's permanently locked...which is good...but i want it CANCELED! As far as I know it shows up on my credit report.....and I just don't want my name as an account holder with them period!!
No. It wasn't about an email. My account was locked...it was hacked. I called the 'official number' over the past year....this is legitimate. Please read all my posts.
