BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. forces raided an insurgent facility that may have been producing an unspecified type of chemicals, the U.S. military said Saturday. It was unclear what was being produced or whether the materials were intended for weapons, the statement added.
U.S. troops, acting on a tip from detainees under interrogation, raided a "suspected insurgent chemical production facility" in northern Iraq last Tuesday, the statement said, without specifying the location.
However, the military cautioned that ongoing testing at the facility was "insufficient to determine what the insurgents had been producing."

MSNBC ran a report on this just now, with photos.
Remember that story from a year+ back about that plot in Jordan to set off a chemical weapon in Annan? That story went nowhere of course, quickly buried. The reporter on MSNBC said his sources believed this facility, and/or the people running it, is linked to that Annan attack that was thwarted.

Wouldn't that just be awesome to find out on the very day that Cindy Sheehan's new commercial calling Bush a LIAR about WMDs starts running?

That is one ominous looking set-up. Any idea what it was designed to produce?
I sure hope this gets a lot of press coverage (doubt that it will, of course).

I should have been more specific. It's a U.S. Navy photo, as credited. It's from the CNN site in post directly above the photo.

From my post on the other thread.
American troops invaded Iraq in March 2003 to destroy what President Bush said were Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction. None were ever found.
Thats just not true. Nuclear weapons were the only thing NOT found. The MSM seems to have forgotten about the Bio and the Chem in the NucBioChem triad of WMD.

You are absolutely correct. I used to have a fairly long listing of stories about the finds we did make--up to and including materials that were intended to be put together for nuclear WMDS. I'm not sure where it is right now, that was a couple years ago, but if anyone is interested, I can dig it up. Some of the links might be dead by now, however.

Once we got into Iraq, all the liberals/anti-warists were asking "Where are the WMDs?" I posted something back then that the fact that they aren't there should be a greater concern. Sadaam used them, he produced, they are somewhere. I hope this is it. IMHO, as always, if they weren't/aren't there--they are somewhere.
If Yahoo news is posting this, you can bet that it's more than rumor.

No, it's definitely not a rumor. There's no question they raided a facility based on intelligence, and there are apparently a good amount of chemicals. We'll have to wait and see about who was using it, since when, etc.

As I recall they found an inordinate amount of insecticide which just happens to be a precursor used in the production of nerve agents. Of course, the MSM has selectively forgotten how to infer anything related to WMD.
