"so we should get out of Iraq because of roadside bombs..."

Of course not. Not until Iraq is stable and in the hands of the Iraqi government and its people.

I never said we should get out of Iraq. Crazy!

Settlers to lock gates August 15
By TOVAH LAZAROFF

Gaza settlers plan to block the IDF entrance to their communities Monday morning when soldiers arrive to hand out evacuation notices, settler leaders vowed late Saturday night.

Some 24 hours before the IDF is scheduled to close down the area to internal and external traffic, thousands of settlers and anti-disengagement supporters gathered at midnight on the lawn outside the Neveh Dekalim synagogue in Gush Katif to hear the rules of their non-violent battle and the schedule of anticipated events for the coming week.

"We will not accept the evacuation degree," said settler leader Rafi Sari, who is among those organizing the struggle against the government's plan to pull out of Gaza starting on August 17th.
He urged all settlers to gather at their community gates at 8 a.m. Monday.

Once the Disengagement Implementation Law goes into effect August 15, settlers will have 48 hours to leave voluntarily.

"We will close the gates, we will sit on the road and pray and sing. We will not let the evacuation forces enter," he said.

Settles amassed late Saturday night following the reading the Biblical book of Lamentations chronicling the destruction of the Temple, on this same day, 2,000 years ago.

Praying for a miracle, they ended their Tisha Be'av service by singing and clapping the words to the song asking God to speedily rebuild the Third Temple, which is suppose to be rebuilt when the messiah comes to redeem his people.

"If there is no redemption this is the last time we will meet together," said Sari. Every hour of delay is critical, he said.

Gaza settler leaders urged the protesters to refrain from violence at all costs.

"If we say, 'no' to violence and 'yes" to determination," we will win," said Avner Shimoni who heads the Hof Aza Regional Council.

Should a settler raise their hand against a soldier, the battle is over, he said. Still, warned Sari, "We will not make it easy."

The best line of defense, he told residents, is to greet the evacuation soldiers in a home that looks as normal as possible. "Be prepared for psychological warfare," he said.

The decision to go with the soldiers or to non-violently resist is a personal one that each family must make on their own, he said.

Experience from the evacuation of Yamit in the Sinai Peninsula in 1982 shows there are endless scenario of how the interaction will play out, he said.

What's important is to reach out to the soldiers as if they are "our brothers" and not "our enemy," he said.

Many soldiers will not have the internal strength to execute this evacuation, he said.

These are difficult times and no one should judge those who chose to willingly leave before the army arrives, he said.

For those who are staying, each settlement is set up with generators. The IDF has promised that essential services won't be disrupted, including the availability of food supplies, he said.

Should all plans to thwart the evacuation fail, Neveh Dekalim council head Lior Kalfa, said that private non-governmental efforts were underway to help relocate the families of Gush Katif, including the construction of tents. "There is a solution for every family," he said.

This is the week in history when the 1st and 2nd Temples in Jerusalem were destroyed by the vicious enemies of the one and only God and the enemies of those who recognize him and live a godly life.

The eviction of Jews by Jews in Gaza and the West Bank is part of the same tragic history. If these events unfold as they seem to be, this week will still be mourned thousands of years from now, as well.

How profoundly tragic for the Jewish soldiers who have been given orders to be part of this horrendous, historical mistake. Not even Sharon himself can even give a reationalization for this so-called "disengagement."

The Palestinian Arabs already were given what they asked for under Oslo. The Palestinian Jews did NOT get an end to what they asked for in return - an end to hate and terrorism.

Why would any sane government continue to make the same exact type of mistakes now, only moreso?

As was known by all around the world until the recent lies of revisionists, Palestine is the eternal homeland of the Jewish people.

from Webster's: ex.pul.sion (ik spul/shen), n. 1. the act of expelling. 2. the state of being expelled.

Got a better definition for a forced removal?

There must be something we don't know, something discussed 'in camera' and agreed upon between Sharon and Bush. Or perhaps a secret agreement from Hamas or the Palestinian's new leader to lay down arms? (Bribed?) Surely something good is expected from this. You know, the 'with all this manure there must be a pony here somewhere....'deal. Even so, I can't see Al Qaeda and the other Islamic crackpot terrorists who plan to set up shop in Gaza asap agreeing to peace.

I'm still waiting for Hamas to be disarmed, which was a term of this "deal".

It hasn't happened.

But the Jews are being expelled.

Makes a mockery of Bush's/Sharon's plan.

One of the things I do not understand is this. The Palestinians were pissed because there were "Joos" in Gaza.

Now, they are leaving Gaza and the Palestinians are still pissed.

They wanted their own nation. They are getting it with the security wall as the border. They are still pissed.

When will the American left get it? They don't want their own nation. They want dead Israelis.

Gaza settler establishes 'Jewish Authority' in the Strip
By David Ratner, Haaretz Correspondent
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/612420.html

Aryeh Yitzhaki, a resident of the Gaza settlement of Kfar Yam, announced the establishment of a Jewish Authority in the Strip on Sunday.

"According to international law, when an occupying force leaves territory that it held, local residents become sovereign rulers of that territory," Yitzhaki declared at a press conference. He said that rather than be evacuated, the settlers should recognized as sovereign rulers of the place, as an independent entity separate from Israel.

Some 15 supporters of the initiative, wearing shirts emblazoned with the words "The Jewish Authority" cheered Yitzhaki's announcement.

Yitzhaki said many residents of the Gush Katif settlement bloc support his initiative, and that elections in the Authority would be held in three weeks.

Yitzhaki, who recently established the Gaza Region Absorption Authority, which encourages the emigration of Israelis to the Strip, declared that, "in honor of Israel disengaging from Gush Katif," the Authority will hold democratic elections within 21 days. Authority supporters called on the Israeli government to dispatch weapons and supplies, and requested that various international institutions recognize the Authority.

Among those showing their support for Yitzhaki was Women in Green leader Nadia Matar, who led the civil disobedience during assassinated prime minister Yitzhak Rabin's tenure.

Yitzhaki, a military historian, told his supporters that there are various opposition plans, but refused to disclose his "tactical secrets."

Yitzhaki's proposal was met with angry responses, mainly from leaders of the adjacent Shirat Hayam settlement, who claim that his initiative adversely affects the opposition campaign that they plan to wage.

Final preparations were made Sunday in Shirat Hayam and Kfar Hayam ahead of the military closure of the Gush Katif settlement bloc, despite the fact that Sunday, Tisha B'Av, was a fast day.

The final preparations sharpened the question regarding leadership and division of power between the two settlements and the various groups in Shirat Hayam.

At a press conference held by the Shirat Hayam secretary and spokesperson, the two declared that the settlement plans a passive opposition to evacuation, but will not cooperate with those carrying out the evacuation. They stressed that Shirat Hayam's preparations are separate from those of the eight families that reside in Kfar Hayam. The Shirat Hayam council decided that those responsible for making the decisions would be the original families who moved there four years ago, and that all individuals who moved to tents on the beach as part of the opposition to the disengagement plan would have to accept the decision of the families or leave the site.

Settlers clash with IDF troops near north W. Bank settlements
By Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondent

Settlers clashed Sunday night with Israel Defense Forces troops in the northern West Bank after the army attempted to impose a seal on the area surrounding settlements set to be evacuated under the disengagement.

Some two hundred residents of the settlement of Shavei Shomron clashed with the troops and broke down a gate on the road leading to Sa-Nur and Homesh, two out of four settlements set for evacuation.

An Israel Air Force officer was taken to hospital as medics feared he broke his hand.

In wake of the clashes the army left an armored personnel carrier to block the road.
