Praying here as well - what the Arabs have been unable to do by direct military attack on Israel for the past 57 years is being done now in the name of a false peace.

I haven't been there, but I lived in Tel Aviv.

Even the letters of the alphabet flee from your proximity.

Al Qaeda is setting up camp in the Gaza, too.

So technically they launched this the day after Tisha B'Av, is that right? (Not that it makes it any better - just trying to nail down the timing. I consider these things very significant.) Thanks for your patience with my ignorance!

The date was deliberate. Originally, the expulsion was scheduled for the day after the 17th of Tammuz, the day the Romans breached the walls of Jerusalem, which begins a three week period of mourning ending on Tish B'Av. Realizing the irony of conducting the expulsion during a period of mourning, it was rescheduled, though I'm not sure much was accomplished by that.

Which picture are you talking about?

The one I posted was from tonight (refreshing the thread gets a real time picture), but the one to which I was referring was in post 1, and was from the prayer service last Wed night. There were hundreds of thousands of people there then.

Gaza is the appetizer. Judea and Samaria, the entree.

" Hopefully they get treated like we'd treat MoveOn crazies who infiltrate a military base to try to block a deployment to Iraq."

Care to elaborate on that comparison?

It's pretty obvious. You've got activists who have been soundly trounced through the political process trespassing in a closed military area to try to block implementation of a policy formed and ratified through said process.

It's not really treason but it could be called insurrection.

Who remembers when peace broke out?

Some of us predicted the result.

Today starts something much worse.

"Thats not what the palestinians are calling it."

Who the hell cares what the "palestinians" are calling it?
Trying to defend 8000 people among one million Arabs was just too onerous for Israel.
Gaza is surrounded by an electrified fence, so Israel will let the "palestinians" boil in their own jus.

"Al Qaeda is setting up camp in the Gaza, too"

More Arab garbage.
A pointed missile will take care of that.

"Thats not what the palestinians are calling it. Unless you think that our own open borders are the same thing?"

They're not the same thing. We're not holding any lands under occupation.

Charming that an Israeli hater is now supportive of the Israeli political process.

Maybe because its decent to tyranny is something with which you are familiar in your barbarian heroes.

i know, it's hilarious, in a sad way.

hamas has already said they will continue their "struggle" until all Israeli's are driven into the sea...kinda hard to negotiate land for peace with those terms.

Their stay on Gaza and the West Bank was a temporary stay since it never was their lands.
A point often forgetten here. Israel never quite had the nerve to defy international (including American) opinion by actually annexing Gaza or the West Bank.

There's no quid pro quo. What does Israel get for leaving the Gaza Strip? Hamas calls it a 'win' and says the fight to the death continues. (Israel's death.)
