Stone the cows? Russia uses pot as animal feed (what do you do with a cow that has the munchies?)

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's long winter will just fly by for a herd of Russian cows which, a newspaper reported on Tuesday, will be fed confiscated marijuana over the cold months.

Drug workers said they adopted the unusual form of animal husbandry after they were forced to destroy the sunflowers and maize crops that the 40 tonnes of marijuana had been planted among, Novye Izvestia daily reported.

"There is simply no other way out. You see, the fields are planted with feed crops and if we remove it all the cows will have nothing to eat," a Federal Drugs Control Service spokeswoman for the Urals region of Sverdlovsk told the paper.

"I don't know what the milk will be like after this."

Drug use in Russia took off with the decline of the Soviet Union and police have been fighting drug smugglers -- often shipping heroin from Afghanistan -- for years.

Such large hauls are relatively common, although they are normally burnt.

Where do I buy Russian cookie stocks?

Or for those in the Phillidelphia area...

Will it now be the Cold Stoned Creamery?

Will the milk from these cows be a controlled substance?

I think the fermentation that goes on inside of a cow keeps them pretty well hammered most of the time anyway.

Will the milk from these cows be a controlled substance?

And will the substance be controlled by the DEA?

(Dairy Enforcement Agency)

Wildwood Weed
(Jim Stafford)

The wildwood flower grew wild on the farm,
And we never knowed what it was called.
Some said it was a flower and some said it was weed,
I never gave it much thought ......
One day I was out there talking to my brother,
Reached down for a weed to chew on,
Things got fuzzy and things got blurry,
And then everything was gone!
Didn't know what happened,
But I knew it beat the hell out of sniffin' burlap.

I come to and my brother was there,
And he said, What's wrong with your eyes?
I said, I don't know, I was chewing on a weed.
He said, Let me give it a try.
We spent the rest of that day and most of that night,
Trying to find my brother, Bill.
Caught up with him, 'bout six o'clock the next morning,
Naked, swinging on the wind mill!
He said he flew up there.
I had to fly up there and bring him down,
He was about half crazy .....

The very next day we picked a bunch of them weeds,
And put 'em in the sun to dry.
Then we mashed 'em up and chopped 'em up,
And put 'em in the corncob pipe.
Smokin' that wildwood flower got to be a habit,
We didn't see no harm.
We thought it was kind of handy,
Take a trip and never leave the farm!

All good things gotta come to an end,
And it's the same with the wildwood weed.
One day this feller from Washington came by,
And he spied and turned white as a sheet.
Then they dug and they burned,
And they burned and they dug,
And they killed all our cute little weeds.
Then they drove away,
We just smiled and waved ..........
Sittin' there on that sack of seeds!

Y'all come back now, hear?

I think they should use the milk to make cookies and ice cream thereby both causing and curing the munchies.

A better source of food would be the mash from making beer. The neighbor used to get all the waste mash from Kemper Ale micro-brewery to feed his cows along with the grain the last few months before slaughter. Great tasting meat, and he said it helps increase the milk production in his Guernsey's.

I can see it now. The local Taco Bell getting raided late at night by herds of hungry Holstiens in cattle trucks blaring Phish and Grateful Dead

Yeah, I worked on a dairy farm that fed mash to the cows.

This is truly amusing.

But, I don't think the cows will eat it.

Seems to me when the hemp ws growing in the pasture, the cows tended to avoid it.
