"YOU could argue that she is the most influential woman in America, not least because her daily television program reaches into the living room of almost every home in the US. ~ This guy is delusional.
He may be delusional, but not about this. Oprah's audience is HUGE. Not just in this country, but world-wide. She has become an easily-used tool.

and it was there that he chose to make his first public declaration of love for his new fiancee, 26-year-old Katie Holmes, in a toe-curling spectacle.
Oh please...

Oprah might like Tom as her favorite toy but her Christian spiritual beliefs are way to strong to ever switch to the "mothership" cult.

There's a twist I didn't see coming. I thought she was all enamored with goddessy, new agey eastern mysticisms.
Oprah would be a huge catch for the Scientologists, one internet site announced this week, and you can almost see Cruise's eyes gleaming at the prospect. Another adds: "If Oprah falls into the hands of Scientology, who can tell what influence she might have on the population? The prospect is terrifying."
This is much worse. Ugh. Picture all the sheeple women jumping up and down excitedly over their free copies of Dianetics and tuning in to learn about audits and such. Ugh.
To: LauraleeBraswell
I hope so. She does kind of buy into whatever new agey things her guests push, like Deepak Chopra, and Tom and John are pals of hers.

Big difference between cults and religions. Some cults are born out of small groups who disagree with a religion.
People are free to leave a religion if they disagree, free to talk negatively in public about it, free to associate with non-believers, even if discouraged, and most don't have to agree to tithe. And that's just for starters. Believe or don't believe in religion, that's a freedom in our country, but Scientology is not a typical 'religion' and it's believers aren't free.

"That is garbage," Travolta says. "Do you really believe that I would stand for something like that? "
Um.............well.................yes.

He might be a "sweet", "great" guy but you can see the crazy behind those eyes. He can't stop. I, too, say this all the time. It's in his eyes. They don't smile or laugh with him. They don't 'emote'. They do look 'crazy'. Contrast that with very early works of his, Risky Business and before. Big difference.
I predict his falling out with the Hubberidians will be very messy.
It nearly was. It's rumored he tried to break with them a couple years ago, around the time he and Nicole split, but they isolated him and coaxed him back. That's just another wacky feature of the 'religion', the isolation of those trying to leave until they are coaxed back. Not all are, but the 'important' members seem to be.

Scientologists believe humans are an exiled race from outer space called Thetans and claim to have eight million followers worldwide (though some critics would argue its true membership is only about 50,000). It only SEEMS like 8 million.

Oprah's head on the wall will look good in the Scientology Trophy Room. Hell; even I would tune in if Oprah would let Xemu co-host a couple of shows...

LOL, needed a laugh. Of
course you're important. I guess by 'important', I meant 'rich'. Rich and famous. (Or are you keeping that from us??!!)
;-)
To: fortunecookie
Sadly, I'm neither at this point...

Well, we're all important, even if we can't be Oprah or Tom. The rich part? I'm still hopeful.
