39% Say Withdraw Troops From Iraq, 46% say NO (Rasmussen poll)
Rasmussen Reports ^

Since Juan Williams loves to quote polls (Especially 3 week old ones) I believe he said on the panel today a majority of Americans want troops to come home. Lets see if he'll mention this one

August 21, 2005--Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Americans say the U.S. should "withdraw its troops from Iraq at this time." A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 46% disagree and 15% are not sure.

Among those with family members who have served in the military, 34% say it is time to bring home the troops. Most in military families, 56%, disagree.

As with most questions concerning the War, there are huge partisan differences. Democrats, by a 57% to 24% margin, say it is time to bring home the troops. Republicans, by a 71% to 20% margin, disagree. Those not affiliated with either major party are evenly divided.

An earlier survey, asking a related but distinct question, found that 44% placed a higher priority on getting troops home than "finishing the mission in Iraq." In that survey, 46% said finishing the mission was more important

Related survey data showed that 35% of Americans have a favorable opinion of Cindy Sheehan and 38% have an unfavorable view.

Forty-three percent (43%) of women and 34% of men say it is time to bring home the troops. Thirty-eight percent (38%) of women and 54% of men disagree.

Married Americans say now is not the time to withdraw troops from Iraq by a 50% to 37% margin. Among those who are not married, opinion on this question is closely divided.

When it comes to the overall War on Terror, confidence that the U.S. and its allies are winning has fallen to the lowest level ever.

"Juan Williams loves to quote polls..."

Sometimes Juan likes to make it up as he goes along.

Good. So someone tell Cindy Sheehan she speaks for Cindy Sheehan. Oh, and maybe for that kook, Chuck Hagel.

They got 39% and they had to survey fag-land to do it.

Juan only likes to quote the polls that support his delusions.

Hey libs, you have had ZERO effect on America's opinion of the Iraq war.

You lost in 2002 debating Iraq.

You lost in 2004 debating Iraq.

You will lose again in 2006 debating Iraq.

Please try and cash in on the fool's gold of fake polls provided by the liberal news organization who oversample Democrats, undersample Republicans, and poll 'national adults'(55% who will not vote in 2006) instead of likely voters.

Enjoy reality.

My concern is for the 35% who say she's right. Way too high.

Only 39%? I'm surprised that they found any Dems with the backbone to say stay on until the job is done.

Drip, drip, drip...the MSM is so hungry for this story now that Cindy Sheehag has left the scene.

Emphasis on the 'way to high' portion of your statement.

And that's 39% of 'national adults'.

The number shrinks even further among 'likely voters'.

It's even scary because Iraq was largely won a long time ago. Yes casualties are very upsetting, I have a good friend a real hero going over and his death in my mind would be a national tragedy. But the fact is the casualties aren't that high for the United States Army. These liberals say "4 marines just died" or "14 guardsmen just died this week" like they are announcing the slaughter of the 130,000 troops in Iraq. They lack any perspective or sense of reality, and of course they could not care less about the troops. It's all about hurting America.

If they want to go by old polls, haw about the one 9 months ago that EVERYBODY got a chance to respond to?

Boy did you hit the nail on the head! Weak political leadership by conservatives has allowed left wing thinking to become mainstreamed, largely as a function of the radicalization of the democrat party. Whilke republicans win elections, they "allow" the dems to move farther left without really taking them on for it. This creates the danger that a democrat administration will be a true left wing disaster.

Don't worry. That's the same 35% who rate Howard Dean and Al Sharpton as Presidential material.

The next President of the United States will not be someone lauded by the press or someone who whores themself in the MSM.

Conventional wisdom is neither conventional or wise.

But these are not really good numbers. We need an EXIT STRATEGY from IRAQ, to win the next Elections (2006 and 2008)! Public opinion may change, and our President's personal rating is not so high.

I still don't understand people's fascination that polls are the gospel truth...even professional pollsters tell you that their info isn't anything more than voodoo science. Polls are for people that are addicted to news and when things are slow, they take a poll.

While the MSM and 3/4 in Congress are vacillating or working hard for defeat in Iraq.
