Hitler was a Catholic!Be careful there. He was born a Catholic. But he never practiced as an adult, nor is there any indication he continued considering himself a Catholic nor followed its teachings.

I don't see a problem here.

"Hitler was a Catholic! He would have sent in 100% Catholic units and destroyed the Vatican utterly, and to the applause of fascist Italian crowds of onlookers."Hitler was born Catholic, then an altar boy, then a murderer. Even the Pope recognized that.
Italian partisans cheering the murder of their Pope who is considered the "Vicar of Christ"?
Not even the fascists would go for it.

"What's Christ got to do with this?"
Pat Robertson represents himself as an ambassador of Christ. Murder is not on Jesus agenda. Harm to the Body is caused by those who seek the kingdom yet are driven away by the hypocrisy of the statement from a so called man of God.
He might as well be out screwing some subordinate like Jim Baker or getting his panty fetish satisfied by a prostitute like Jimmy Swaggart did. It's the same damage, IMO.

Last week, the Fox News people were talking about Hugo Chavez and someone referred to him as "Cesar Chavez". I love it!

Yikes! EDIT: He might as well be out screwing some subordinate like Jim Baker did or getting his panty fetish satisfied by a prostitute like Jimmy Swaggart did. It's the same damage, IMO.

The left can go sing "Kumbaya" with the likes of Chavez and Castro all they want, it still doesn't change things. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. --Matthew 10:34
Nice perversion (well, disgusting actually)of Christ's words. Do you really think Christ had in mind assassination in order to further America's interests?

"What's Christ got to do with this?" And what's Pat Robertson got to do with Christ?
To: TheHound
My viewpoint is to support the internal opposition financially and with propoganda. Chavez is already showing weakness.

He was baptised.
I don't recall there being anything in the rules that allows a Catholic to excommunicate himself ~ it takes an official action by someone in the priesthood authorized to do that.
Absent evidence that Hitler was excommunicated, he died a Catholic (although technically not one who can be buried in a Catholic graveyard inasmuch as he commited suicide).

It's OK for John Kennedy to assassinate our friend and ally Diem. It's OK for Kennedy to attempt numerous times to assassinate Castro. It's OK for Muslims to exercise their natural rights in Britain and threaten to kill all Christains if we do not submit to Muslim law.
Yet let a conservative merely take a brutal dictator (I know the facts) up on HIS suggestion that we are trying to kill him, ... well, that's outrageous.
To: Rebelbase
It is very sad indeed. I am Jewish but always consider him to be one of the public figures that upholds morality in this country -- a very unpopular cause. It is very sad to see Robertson making mistakes such as these: it's a loss for all of us Americans.
To: Rebelbase
OK, so if anyone's keeping score of Christian "leaders" versus Moslem "leaders" encouraging violent means, it is now:
Christians-1
Moslems-in the thousands

Interesting you mention the Old Testament, maybe you can clear something up for me.
Whenever an issue comes up where someone points to something from the OT, such as stoning prostitutes and such, the response is that things like that were left behind because of Jesus, and his death on the cross...
OK, yet, whenever some oddball like Robertson comes along with some idea like this, out comes the OT as justification.
So, which is it?
Either Robertson is a Hypocrite, OR you've been slacking as I haven't seen you out stoning Hookers...
To: Jorge
Read the parts where God advocates Israel wiping out it's enemies completely and totally.
America is not Israel, fool. And Pat Robertson is not God the Father or Christ either. Thought you might have figured that out.
To: Rebelbase
Clearly, Chavez is a lunatic, but...assassination? Sounds like Robertson is overdue for a vacation.
To: muawiyah
That's a smear and you know it.

First off, I never said it was actually "murder to stop a murderer". The 6th commandment says, "thou shalt not kill".
Kill, not murder. Justify it all you want, but it is completely inconsistent with the teachings of Jesus Christ to clearly, unequivically advocate the killing of someone Pat disagrees with. It's funny how geopolitical considerations can muddle the commandments, eh?
Still waiting on a legitimate source for how Chavez "has ALREADY killed in his own country", and, more to the point, how "HE WILL help get Americans killed"...
To: TommyDale
And what's Pat Robertson got to do with Christ? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You owe me a keyboard!

The Italian fascists would have joined with the Italian communists cheering on the German Catholics tearing up the Vatican.
The very same people cheered on the Italian Army invading Ethiopia and overthrowing the Lion of Judah, a quasi-religious authority with a lineage dating back before that of the Vatican itself.
Why do people want Italian fascists to be better than they were?
