For what reason would the Federal Government want to divide the citizens of this nation into two categories - "Hispanic or Latino" or "Not Hispanic or Latino" while ignoring all other ethnic categories?Interesting point to ponder. Maybe because that's how it seems to be dividing up anyway? The coming Latino/Hispanic majority and the rest of us?

I don't have a problem with ESL classes. If someone LEGALLY immigrates here, works a job where they have SS taken, pays property taxes, pays federal taxes, and all in all puts in to the system as much as you or I do, their child is entitled to an education where he or she learns English.

Puerto Rico is a US Territory. I can't stand how Latin America is clumped into one group. Mexicans are Mexicans, Argentinians are Argentinians and Puerto Ricans are Puerto Ricans. Not only that, but a lot of the hispanic groups can't stand one another. There's a real pecking order. And it's amazing how many Cubans will tell you they are actually from Spain.

ENTITLED? You best research that word 'entitled, my FRiend.
Karl Marx was big on the "entitlement" of public education, in his communist manifesto... 2nd only to a progressive income tax system.
No one is "entitled" to Spanish interpreters at taxpayer expense.
I've been around many immigrants from Scandinavian countries. Not one of them was afforded an interpreter in school, at taxpayer expense. They learned English of their own accord. Having been around a Swede for awhile, I know that for a fact.
What they do in Sweden, is cater to the Arabs. They now have schools where the population is almost entirely Arabic, and they teach them in Arabic. You can read more about THAT, HERE:

Three things hold a country together:
1: A common language
2. A common culture
3. Defined and recognized borders
You can't name another language/culture that has been catered to like Spanish speaking/Hispanic folks have been catered to,. at taxpayers expense.
