"Minuteman" Jim Gilchrist is my prospective opponent for California's 48th District U.S. House Rep. special election. Does anyone know what his stance is on the Iraq War? I for one firmly support the President and our operations in Iraq. What is Gilchrist's position on the war?
Thank you, J. Scott Davis
Oh. I suggest you never link it again on a Gilchrist thread if you find favor with the man. The place is a Campbell field of dreams. LOL.
Do you not want to talk about the American Independent Party? Why not? It's just your typical whacko third party losers.
You feel free to attack the Republican Party, now it's pay back time.
All of the anti-illegals who have been claiming on FR to be Republicans are going to have to come out from under their rocks now and expose themselves for what they really are.
See post #42. Look at the name Jim Gilchrist and next to it you will see that he is running for the nomination of the American Independent Party.
You may not like it but you and the other antis have been outed.
Name one.
You are strectching here and trying to paint people with stripes they do not deserve.
As to Gilchrist, like I told Torie, what I have heard of him tells me he is a conservative who upholds and supports our constitution. I agree with what I have seen and heard of his anti-illegal entry efforts. I see that he is pro-life, pro-second amendment, and supports the completion of the mission in Iraq (despite having apparently opposed us going in). I will wait to hear more on othert specific issues and make up my own mind.
(Responding to a post by tertiary01:
"Since you have so much compassion for Illegal Mexican immigrants")
(bayourod responds:)
Not me. As I've posted before, I have no affinity for Mexicans or Americans of Hispanic descent.
To recognize that foreign laborers are essential right now to sustaining our economy does not mean that I am particularly fond of Hispanics.
I don't speak Spanish, have Hispanic relatives, work with Hispanic or have any close Hispanic friends.
To recognize that fences cannot stop men willing to risk their lives to feed their families does not mean that I like those men. It just means that I understand the nature of the problem.
If I had my personal preference, instead of Mexican laborers, we would have Western European laborers with blond hair and blue eyes pouring across our borders bringing their beautiful daughters. But that isn't reality. Neither is "sealing the border".
To recognize that Republicans must not unnecessarily alienate Hispanic voters with gratuitous insults if we hope to keep Hillary out of the White House is not the same as saying that I want to invite them to live in my house.
However all my relations with Hispanics have been good. Can't say that about Nigerians and half a dozen other types.
Oh please, do go on about how much other people's racism offends you. Your righteous indignance shines like a beacon, leading the way to true enlightenment.
Care to explain what issue you have with "Nigerians and half a dozen other types"? Because it sure sounds racist, although you probably have a perfectly logical explanation as to what you actually meant.
"Kellynla;
I support strengthening our defense against illegal
immigration to stop the criminal element from entering our
country illegally. Also, illegals negatively effect our tax dollar. In addition, terrorism is something we all need to
keep an eye out for.
~Scott~ "
The criminal element is EVERY ILLEGAL Scott. I want a hardliner like Gilchrist who not only talks the talk but walks the walk.
"Do you know how much a fence like that would cost to be built on the northern and southern borders?"
It would be worth any cost. We would save in the long run.
Should we take this to mean that you are admitting to being pro-illegal immigration? I've asked you this question several times. Why do you refuse to answer this question?
Unfortunately, that seems to be just the strategy the Administration is pursuing.
I haven't seen him do anything here but talk around the questions like any good politician.
"Nurse! I'm hearing the voices of the Antis in my head again!"
A good camofaluge question for the open-borders crowd. The fence in Israel is working. And a fence is a lot more practical than no fence.
If he were a liberal, do you think B-1 bob would have endorsed him? Do you think the AIP woudl put up a liberal for Congress? Seriously? Anotehr poster who has talked to Gilchrist says his position is that we must stay the course in Iraq. How is that a liberal view?
Excellent! Same would be true of legals vs illegals of all stripes.
That's not his position, as you well know. It's been explained to you numerous times. As unwilling as you are to listen to the facts, I think you're probably a liberal. Also, a liberal from a minor party will NOT win in the majority conservative 48th District.
The leading Republican candidate is an open-borders RINO. he's the kinkd of guy you ought to be going after. Gilchrist has high name ID and there are a bunch of Republicans (2 Dimmycraps, I think, a Green, a Libertarian, and Gilchrist on the AIP make 5 -- the rest are from the GOP.) In that kind of field, Gilchrist has a shot.
You have already stated your viotrolic hatred of Tancredo, so we know you will NOT support the 2006 Republican slate in Colorado , so why do you refuse to tell us which fringe third party wacko you will support?
Has your boss Harry Browne not supplied the marching orders yet?
I have, and as you well know, there is nothing anti-immigration about it. It's anti-illegal immigration, a different thing. You want to come to America, come legally. Otherwise, we'll come after you. Sounds like the principled conservative position to me.
Gotta love how he uses "anti" just like the abortion-on- demand folks. Love to call people "antis" without saying specifically WHAT the "antis" are against.
Stating the truth that someone is "anti-choice" TO KILL BABIES or "anti" ILLEGAL immigration just doesn't have the same effect as making someone sound like an obstructionist in general.
Even notice "conservative" Bayouroud NEVER posts about other issues aside from his open borders agenda? Sort of like "conservative" Vicente Fox. He'll raise hell about the latest deportation effort, but good luck trying to get the "pro-life" Vicente Fox to say ONE WORD about our abortion policy!
Don't confuse our "candidate" here with facts.
