Skip to comments.LIVE Report From Crawford (3,000 folks now and STILL COMING!)
Posted on 08/27/2005 10:02:40 AM PDT by TXBubba
Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.
Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!
Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.
They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.
The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.
Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.
To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!
That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.
BTW, I remember that you make darn good chili!
No fan of yellow ribbons here. The message in them is not victory, not even survival. It is cut-and-run.
My heart is filled with pride and gratitude for our fellow FReepers and other patriots from across this great country!! Oh how I wish I could be there. I'll be with you all in spirit! chena
I flipped to MSNBC earlier when Fox had their financial shows on - they had a reporterette there covering - - both sides, too (whether it will be fair and balanced is another story).
Matt Lauer has his Headlines and Legends on now - it's on Hitlery - - blechhhhhh
Interesting read on who's bankrolling Cindy.
I was thinking the same thing....and the worst part is, the hurricane isn't supposed to hit until MONDAY...and the Caravan and protest is TODAY!
But, hey, it is more "politically correct" to cover a hurricane than a Pro-Bush, Pro-military rally! sigh
Or the opening to 'The Lone Ranger'.
Thanks for starting a LIVE thread, TXBubba!
Hey, by the way, anyone know if any of this will be on shown on live TV today?
Only thing, CNN will complain because the children disrespected the flag with their writings. Oh, and keep an eye out for plants pulling something to get you bad media coverage. The msm is chopping at their bits to get any dirt.
Thanks for the live thread and update on the rally and preparations. Sounds like those in attendance are going to have a fantastic rally for the troops and a great cookout afterward. I hope thousands of people show up to support our troops and America!
I'm tempted to agree with you... but I'm trying to stay my optimistic self.
Just what i was thinking. I hope the regular people have their camcorders with them and not just the media.
Yellow ribbons = We support you and will wait for you as long as it takes until you come safely home!
I hope that includes the "One Tyrant at a Time" MOAB that was put to such outstanding use last night at Walter Reed!
And thank you for the buttons!
An even better bet would be that, unless there IS violence, this won't get any real media coverage at all. They'll go wall to wall with the hurricane and act give Crawford a 30sec voice-over at best.
Here's a report from earlier on FNC - with screen shots
