As one of history's most powerful hurricanes made landfall in Louisiana and Mississippi this morning, the thoughts and prayers of a nation were directed toward the safety of hundreds of TV reporters trapped in three-star hotels in the path of deadly Katrina.
While federal agencies warned that the Category 4 storm, packing 140 m.p.h. winds, could leave one million people homeless and cause billions of dollars in property damage, those hardest hit so far have been TV news reporters stranded without room service or air conditioning for hours on end as they shout over the wind to keep citizens up to date on the latest flying debris.
Access to cosmetics and hair-stabilizers has been severely restricted in Katrina's path, and the major news networks have appealed to the American public to contribute truckloads of these essential commodities for the media victims of this natural disaster.
"It's hard to a see a silver lining behind these grey clouds," said one CNN executive. "But if injury and loss of life are the price of sensational ratings, then the sacrifice of these TV reporters will not have been in vain."
Pinging the usual suspects!
(anyone wanting on or off the satire ping list, let me kn
Could you add me to this list...
Thanks .. :)
I just saw FOX News' Molly Henneberg reporting from the storm.
Poor thing looked like a drowned rat.
It's beyond stupid what these people do. "As you can see Jane, the trees are blowing really hard now!" Arrrghhhhh!
Please add me to satire ping list. God knows I need more laughs.
lol
I thought it a foxy look. Quite unlike the prim and proper talking heads back in the studio.
And you are right, looked like a drowned rat.
I think ya meant to post to me, but consider yerself amongst the usual suspects anyway!

LOL! Wish I had seen that. Poor girl. LOL!
FOX had all their reporters on this hurricane story it seems. Her normal assignment is travelling on Air Force 1 and covering the President.
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks! *snicker*
I heard Shepard Smith won't be able to leave his hotel room until the bars reopen.
No doubt it's stupid! Usually the camera is sopping wet and all shaky as is the reporters voice so what is the point? Seems stupid-especially if it may take a life.
"It's hard to a see a silver lining behind these grey clouds," said one CNN executive. "But if injury and loss of life are the price of sensational ratings, then the sacrifice of these TV reporters will not have been in vain."
One can only pray for their families!
Oh holy grid, help us to keep our chevron shining bright,
as we stare across the gulf of compromise,
in this shell we call life.
Fox News Channel anchor Shepard Smith was arrested by Florida police in November 2000 and charged with aggravated battery with a motor vehicle after arguing with another reporter over a parking space (both were covering the Bush-Gore Florida vote debacle).
"this shell we call life."
More like shallow hole! LOL
BWAAAHAAAAHAAAAA! Always did want to see those dudes without the makeup on! Of course, Steve Harrigan's blew away really early this morning while he was up to his hips in water, trying to keep from blowing away!
I'm sure when the Red Cross shows up, hair-dryers and hot rollers for Shep and others are going to be the top priority in the clean-up efforts! LOL!
What's his face reporter for Fox who was in Iraq was out in it all day. Every time I saw him, I was reminded of turkeys getting drown because they're too stupid not to look up at the rain with their mouths open.
I'm sure they'll all clean up nicely! LMAO!
