BREAKING!!! - Weldon says records were ordered destroyed!! (Able Danger)
Dom Giordano Show - 1210AM Radio "Big Talker" - Philadelphia | 29 AUG 05 | Vanity

Posted on 08/29/2005 6:23:38 PM PDT by Lancey Howard

Congressman Curt Weldon (R - Pennsylvania) gave another exclusive interview to Dom Giordano this evening (Monday) and broke the news that he will be giving a speech on September 8th (next Monday) during which he will present yet another 'Able Danger' witness. This new witness will attest (and will swear under oath when called) that he was "ordered to destroy records" relating to the 'Able Danger' program.

This order to destroy the records occurred prior to 9-11-01. Weldon intimated that it happened during the Clinton Administration.

The witness, who Weldon did not name, says that he was ordered to destroy records and was threatened with jail if he failed to comply. Weldon said that he has the names of the people involved, including the person who gave the order, and HE WILL NAME THEM in his speech.

Congressman Weldon also said that his staff has met with Senator Arlen Specter's (R - Pennsylvania) staff regarding the upcoming Judiciary Committee hearings. Weldon wants to be sure that everybody is on the same page. Weldon also said that he will do whatever he has to do to make sure that ALL the facts come out and that the process "is not manipulated".

Curt Weldon is like a pit bull on a steak. He expressed disgust with the "incompetence" of the 9-11 Commission and said that the victims of the 9-11 terror attacks deserve answers. Weldon is determined to see that they get them.

Weldon did express confidence in Tim Roehmer and John Lehman and speculated that perhaps the poor job done by the Commission was the result of an incompetent staff. Weldon sounded amazed and disappointed that so much important information was either glossed over or swept under the rug by the Commission.

Weldon will give his September 8th speech either to the National Press Club or to a "9-11 families" group which has asked him to speak. He apparently hasn't nailed down the exact venue yet.

(For those unfamiliar with Dom Giordano, he is a very good conservative local talk show host here in the Philadelphia area, an area which includes Curt Weldon's district. Weldon comes on Dom's show often and, like this evening, sometimes breaks news.)

Clinton ordered ALL Able Danger documents to be destroyed because of their Chinagate findings. The Able Danger findings on Al Qaeda were destroyed to eliminate all evidence that Able Danger ever existed.

Is that your opinion, someone else's opinion, or are you making an educated guess?

Now we have a clue as to what Sandy Burger was stuffing in his socks and underwear and accidentally destroyed.

Why was it not pursued? Why was it not asked about? Why was he not prosecuted? Or was he? Being busy with other things, I did not have time to follow. Thanks.

Yes. They thought it was going to be a landslide. When it turned out Bush won, they started to scramble. They destroyed the WH computers and the files were torn apart. The WH was trashed.

It was dismissed as anger over the recount, while perfectly in character for that to be the case, very likely there was more to it than that. Could be linked to this, could concern soemthing else.

"There are reports that LTC Schaffer was the subject of fradulent travel claims or phone bills - he may have been, but this would not be in the news if someone wanted him silenced. He was also a revered case officer from what I have been told; and thought out of the box."

From what I've read (came from Shaffer's personal lawyer when the story first broke), he was being crucified over less than $70 on a cell phone bill - he had a call forwarding on for personal calls and (he probably didn't even know that) it cost 25 cents per call.... anyway, that's his lawyer's story, that for under $70 which he was quite willing to re-pay, someone in the DOD was trying to savage his career and reputation.... makes you think someone was really really concerned about what a credible Col. Shaffer could do to THEIR reputation over the ABLE DANGER fiasco?????

Some dems? I assume all those aspiring to become President in 2008 are hoping the Xlintoons falter and Kerry is leading the pack.

You're right. Lots of infighting, back biting and glad-handing. They're a charming bunch.

Burger? If so, he's to be sentenced sometime in September. For some reason, they delayed his first sentencing. They didn't say what he stoled, either. He'll probably get a slap on the hand, but I hope he squealed like a pig when they had him.

Not ready to read thru 360 replies, but last week Shaffer said that the army destroyed his reports/documents. (I believe toward the end of 2000)

Yes, Curt mentioned that again tonight as well. That destruction of records occurred AFTER 9-11-01.

Thanks for that cap. But what were the specific charges?

This is taken from a McCarthy bio. Obviously, I am not the only one who did not look favorably on McCarthy.

McCarthy became an anti-Communist crusader in 1950. He won re-election two years later and assumed chairmanship of the Senate's Government Operations Committee. Through its investigative subcommittee, McCarthy looked for Communists in government. Other senators became dissatisfied with what they considered McCarthy's crude tactics and reckless accusations. In 1954, his colleagues censured him for disregarding Senate customs. Three years later, while still in office, McCarthy died of acute hepatitis at the age of 48.

The Senate has censured nine of its members since 1789, McCarthy being the fourth. Censure means a formal statement of disapproval. It carries no official penalty.>

Thanks for the ping and the mention of the Downside Legacy - we need a little "data mining" like Able Danger on all such open sources, too ...

I'm with you on this one. They were going after him with waaaaaay too much gusto.

I'm concerned they have more on him... he's got to be brave and just tell all. It's the only path to safety.

Thanks for that cap. But what were the specific charges?

After Justice Department prosecutor Noel Hillman allowed Berger to plead guilty to a misdemeanor, he requested what some consider an extraordinarily light sentence given the gravity of the crime - a $10,000 fine, a three-year suspension of Berger's security clearance and no jail time. (FR Thread for more info)
