Astonishing Exclusive From Mississippi [hundreds if not thousands dead]
Paramedic Rescue Operation | 8-31-05 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 08/30/2005 10:10:45 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

It is with heavy heart I write this...

I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.

He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.

Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.

They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.

The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.

The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.

More to follow....

"I'm willing to wait for the confirmation of this on Fox or one of the other majors, rather than take the word of an anonymous report."

Wise move if you ask me. I'm afraid many others are not being so prudent.

While hunkered down just South of Jackson during the height of the storm my inlaws said this was far worse than what they had experienced during Camille. And it was terrorizing enough where I was at.

Actually, I think the Guard needs to start shooting looters. I hate to say that but if people know that they're going to get blown away for looting hospitals, I think it'll work. Plus every legally armed citizen should be made peaceofficers to stop this nonsense.

Uh, you posted on 8/27 this "ill go against my usual bias which is right (lol) and say yes, they will have to shift further west....right now you have 2 main models in ms, 1 a little west of NO and 1 right over NO.....i think new orleans is in real trouble with this one.". So, two of the four models were saying MS and you thought that the models would have to shift west even more

first, i wasnt making the nhc forecasts genius, they were....i was wrong, they were right.....what does that have to do with your ignorant comment about the "focus" of the storm. second, get a map out and take a long look....any storm that hits new orleans is going to slam the mississippi coast with the ne eyewall. im done with you....you are completely offbase.

tHERE'S AN expert of some sort on Coast to Coast talking about the technology to turn hurricanes, stall them speed them up etc. Didn't listen long.

The "expert" weatherman is just a nobody TV weather guy, seeking fame. He's blaming the Russians!

This is what I know for certain:

1. The bridge between Bay St. Louis and Pass Christian on US 90 is gone. It was a high stucture.

2. The highest surge was at Bay St. Louis on the coast.

3. When I had my boat at Pass Christian I was about two miles or so from the Gulf. The club building was on stilts and the water mark of Camille was on the ceiling of the first floor. About twenty feet up over two miles inland. This surge that came in was a good bit higher.

4. Jefferson Davis's house survived Camille, its gone now.

5. I heard of one family in Bay St. Louis well up in the city had just built a house with its foundation located above the high water mark. They rode the storm out or at least attempted to. This house flooded up to the ceiling. They made it out of the house to a small sailboat that was tied in the back yard and rode the rest of this storm out in it. After the water went down they decided to walk further inland. This is the last I know about this family.

6. It was reported that NO STRUCTURES in Pass Christian survived the storm.

I guess we will just have to wait and see and do a lot of praying. I am trying to contact some of the people I know down there but can't. I just visited these people a little over a month ago.

I hope everyone has stopped by the Red Cross site:

or the Salvation Army:

to donate what they can.

I've seen others say that, but if 80% of the people could get out, I have a hard time thinking the other 20% couldn't have.

I realize that some are infirmed and unable to leave, but I've seen a lot of healthy people who thought they knew better and wouldn't leave.

You people are way too generous! My cousin will be fine. She has a very large family and none of them are "poor". I hope I didn't come across as "asking" for $ for her. God bless you!

I'm probably going to send a check to HER so I know DIRECTLY where my money is going. She is a single/divorced mom trying to make ends meet. She's beside herself.

That's wonderful. And the best way (IMO) to help is directly. Bless you.

I trust your sources. You are quite reliable with an understanding of journalistic skepticism as well.

That is why I am about ready to cry here. A college student desensitized to pretty much everything due to Hollywood about to cry.

This is just horrendous. This is the worst natural disaster ever for America.

I understand not giving more details....my mother works at a hospital and can't say anything either when something happens.

I'm inclined to agree in such spheres and areas of nature.

"I've seen a lot of healthy people who thought they knew better and wouldn't leave."

One reporter I saw on the news was talking about rescue crews knowing of people who absolutely refused to leave, and in some areas it's presumed that everyone who stayed has been lost. This was a reporter speaking from Hwy? 90 in Gulfport, I believe.

This is so similar to Galveston 1901 (Isaac's Storm). Another part of this tragedy, particularly in NOLA, is that because they are below sea level and bury their dead above ground (and there will be no access to the ground for awhile), these bodies will have to be morgued or cremated quickly. And who knows what kind of identification maze this is going to create.
