Russia offers help to U.S. after deadly hurricane

MOSCOW — Russia is ready to assist the United States in dealing with the damage caused by hurricane Katrina, which has taken 68 lives so far and left behind a tremendous amount of devastation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a message to U.S. President George Bush Tuesday.

"Russia deeply sympathizes with Americans, who faced a disaster of such a colossal scale, and is ready to offer necessary assistance," Putin said.

Putin asked Bush to extend his condolences to families and relatives of those killed in the disaster.

"Accept my sincere words of regret in connection with the natural calamity in the USA. I know that hurricane Katrina, which swept the southeast coast of the country, resulted in deaths, left tens of thousands of Americans without roofs over their heads, and caused substantial damage to the region's economy," the message said. /RIA Novosti/

No, Putin is building a light water reactor, near impossible to get nuke fuel from one. The rods are returned under US inspections. Its our friends in Pakistan who are arming Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and were arming Lybia (to which Lybia fessed up).

Yeah. The Russian have some VERY large cargo planes. Not to mention their passenger helicopters.

The 75-passenger (can cram up to 120 in a high density seating arrangement) MI-6 helo would probably have been very useful in evacuating people out of the Superdome.

We need all the help we can get right now.....thank you Russia.

Which country (countries) helped us with fly over protection right after 9/11? I remember reading that foriegn fighter jets were assisting in that operation.

Good that they are doing something, but I don’t know what it has to do with me. So keep your nose in Moscow and my person shouldn’t bother you.

Thanks for the link. I already called the Russian Embassy in DC (202.298.5700) and left them a message thanking them for their help. They are swamped (no pun intended).

France is the only country in which their help or sympathies are not welcome.

Don't say that. Millions of French people have very good hearts and like, admire, and sympathize with Americans. If you visit France (unlikely, I know!) you may get a warm, gracious welcome in the countryside. Don't confuse the Chirac and the French government with the French people. After all, you would be humiliated if people from other nations confused the Clinton Administration with the good people of America.

Ahh the ever present pro-soviet propagandist friend of GarySpFc shows up, as predicted by others who freepmailed me.

David horowitz has more credibility than you ever could hope to have, as does Ion Pacepa former head of Romanian KGB. Keep trying to spread your propaganda here though, we're watching.

"Their credibility is less than zero!!!!"

David Horowitz has more credibility than you will ever have.

No surprise, MarMema and JB6 two known pro-soviet putin apologists are on your pinglist.

After watching the disgraceful looting going on in Haiti New Orleans, I think that I would ask Russia to put New Orleans on their ICBM target list. That would probably help us more than any aid.

The point your credibility evaporates like the civility in NO.

Ion Pacepa former head of Romanian KGB

Former general, oppressor and mass murderer...the man you hold in so much esteam...hmmm.

As for David Horowitz, his story died a long time ago and his main source is under FBI investigation for being a crook and the whole sum of his "evidence" was "in my opinion". Only people like you take opinion for fact.
