There are people just taking pot shots at police and at helicopters, telling them, 'You better come get my family.'"

No self-esteem problems, thank God.

Is this the Great Society LBJ envisioned?

Seriously, they need to drop a load of something...
anything...in plain sight about 2mi away from their intended landing zone, then wait for the marauders to head for the bait, circle around and land. If they come running back before the helo's ready to take off, meet them with deadly force.

"No plan, no nothin, SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!"

They clearly did not prepare for the gangs/thugs who intentionally remained in the city in order to loot and steal guns.

....""With 10,000 plus national guard and 1500 cops it seems like you would be seeing them on the streets more"....

Maybe they have to appear on all the news and cable channels 24/7, just like their bosses, before they can get down to work.

Where's Rodney King when we need him - "Can't we all jes get along"

They'll need boots on the ground to clear those pads.

Sadly that is the case. The gangsters know from paste experience in LA, Detroit, etc. that the good guys won't get return fire. How sad that we have to fight our way to a hospital to relieve the citizens.

This cannot be allowed. Who is in charge down there?

No one . . . . that's the main problem.

Maybe they're on the bus with Cindy.

Doctors Without Borders does not operate in developed countries. It's not its mission, despite your desire to see it that way.

Those N.O. doctors who currently belong to Doctors without Borders should drop out of that organization. It is unconscienable that these DWB doctors will not help out here.

"How sad that we have to fight our way to a hospital to relieve the citizens."

FEMA at least temporarily suspended boat rescues earlier today due to gunfire. I hope the people down there blame the thugs along with the government for all the chaos.

Huummm. why not more military?

Amateurs talk strategy, professionals talk logistics. Getting a lot of folks moved is a big deal, you just can't load them all up on cattle cars (tho there are plans in place for just that.

What would it be like if a nuke plant had a meltdown and breach? Shudder to think.

May the good Lord help the rescue effort, they will need it.

I see. They get their education here but can't be bothered to practice here . . . .I see clearly.

Why can't the hospital security shoot from inside the hospital and clear the pad?

It's virtually certain that they are unarmed.

What you have mistaken for bitterness is pragmatism. You'll learn that as you get older.

You have no clue how old I am. As for your "pragmatism," I am aware of no definition of that word that provides for what you are doing . . . the equivalent of complaining that the Salvation Army operates no soup kitchens in Burkina Faso.

Doctors Without Borders does not operate in developed countries.

Well, they should make an exception because NO does look more and more like a 3rd world country...
