MSM: Take Note - Clinton's Contribution to the Katrina Disaster ( Must Read )
The Federal Register ^ | September 1, 2005 | EagleUSA

Posted on 09/01/2005 3:21:59 PM PDT by EagleUSA

The MSM began politicizing the hurricane Katrina disaster before it even happened. Of course, their one objective is to blame President Bush, our military and anyone else that represents an idealogical barrier to their agenda. What the MSM has not done, is look in their own backyard -- in 1998 the Army Corps of Engineers provided a Draft Request to pursue the protection of noted areas in the Gulf region, to enhance their ability to survive heavy hurricane damage. The project was summarily REJECTED BY BILL CLINTON as not important.

The complicit MSM is making insane charges and accusations based on emotion and hate. Here, in the Federal Register is SOLID FACT that thier poster child, BILL CLINTON, materially contributed to the conditions which permitted hurricant Katrina to dessimate the Gulf region.

We aren't the ones who are politizing this

Yes, you are. If you try to assign blame for this to your political foes, you're politicizing it. You may not be the only ones politicizing it, but you're still doing it.

the dems started long before the hurricane ever hit

You think I give a crap who started it? It's wrong and it's disgusting no matter who does it. If a liberal troglodyte dropped trou and mooned you in front of a crowd of kids, would you follow suit and moon him in retaliation? After all, he started it.

It is clear you don't understand the important implication here -- it is about the MSM and the left. Why don't you direct your scorn to THEM

I do direct my scorn to the MSM. And to the Democrats who are trying to make political hay out of this. And also to Republicans who are trying to make political hay out of it. There's plenty of scorn to go around, and I'll heap it on anyone who's busy assigning blame while the bodies aren't even cold yet, while some of the bodies aren't even dead yet.

By the way, do you know how the MSM will report this? They'll report it as, "Conservatives try to blame Clinton for Katrina." They won't report that it was done in retaliation. They won't report that it was started by the Democrats. They won't report whatever facts are on your side. So not only are you disrespecting the victims, you're giving ammunition to the MSM.

But we can, and should, counter their lies with the truth.

Go ahead... after a decent interval has passed, after the dying has stopped, after the dead have been lain to rest.

Here's some similar info I came across earlier today:

February 17, 1995
An Army Corps of Engineers "hit list" of recommended budget cuts would eliminate new flood-control programs in some of the nation's most flood-prone spots - where recent disasters have left thousands homeless and cost the federal government millions in emergency aid.

Clinton administration officials argue that the flood-control efforts are local projects, not national, and should be paid for by local taxes.

Nationwide, the administration proposes cutting 98 new projects in 35 states and Puerto Rico, for an estimated savings of $29 million in 1996.

Corps officials freely conceded the cuts, which represent only a small portion of savings the corps ultimately must make, may be penny-wise and pound-foolish. But they said they were forced to eliminate some services the corps has historically provided to taxpayers to meet the administration's budget-cutting goals.

June 23, 1995

A hurricane project, approved and financed since 1965, to protect more than 140,000 West Bank residents east of the Harvey Canal is in jeopardy.

The Clinton administration is holding back a Corps of Engineers report recommending that the $120 million project proceed. Unless that report is forwarded to the Office of Management and Budget, Congress cannot authorize money for the project, U.S. Rep. William Jefferson's office said Thursday.

On June 9, John Zirschky, the acting assistant secretary of the Army and the official who refused to forward the report, sent a memo to the corps, saying the recommendation for the project "is not consistent with the policies and budget priorities reflected in the President's Fiscal Year 1996 budget. Accordingly, I will not forward the report to the Office of Management and Budget for clearance."

Absolutely. ABC World News Tonight just spent 2 FULL pieces (about 10 entire minutes of airtime on their 22-minute nightly newscast) on blaming President Bush for "not doing enough." We are witnessing the MSM Smear Job of the Century. It must not go unchallenged.

What, no Cindy?

I agree with you, the MSM is OUT OF CONTROL.

I appreciate the information and the source link. It needs to be pointed out, as the smear campaign against Mr. Bush is ratcheting up to full song.

Thank you.

If you want ammunition to deal with the lib/dems who are throwing it in your face, try this:

Fine. Lay low and be decent. When you finally decide to raise that finger, you'll be digging yourself out because the liberal press will have buried you in trash stories. We on the right always take the high road and wind up on the sh*t end of the stick because the moonbats play hardball.

This has nothing to do with respecting the dead; we can respect the dead and defend ourselves against their scurrilous, deceitful attacks at the same time. They fired the first shot. We have to defend ourselves.

Thanks for posting this. It will come in very handy after all the crap stops flying.

Maybe the MSM and lib-uh-rhuls will back off a little bit knowing that this information is readily available should they get too strident with the blame game.

Nope, they sure didn't. That's because they're disgusting, and they have no respect for the dead and the dying. Can the same be said about you, too?

They fired the first shot. We have to defend ourselves.

Okay, so their attack is, "IT'S BUSH'S FAULT!!", right? That's what you have to defend yourself against?

One possible defense would be, "NO IT'S NOT IT'S CLINTON'S FAULT!!" That lowers you to their level, and frankly just sounds childish.

How about this as a defense: "Look at those liberals! They're so obsessed with Bush, so blinded by irrational hatred, that they blame him for a hurricane! What's next? Will they blame Bush for ring-around-the-collar?"

Much more effective, plus it lets you retain the high ground. Give that one a try. Make an issue out of their obscene politicization of the hurricane, rather than joining them in the obscenity.

The size and scope of the levee problem could not have been solved by any governmental agency operating under non-emergency procedures in anything less than 15-20 years.

Unless we want to go back and blame every local administration and federal administration for the forty years preceding 1980 for not adequately planning for Hurricane Katrina, I suppose we should lay off the blame game. Nothing started during Clinton's administration would've changed the outcome of the disaster, unless they were operating with urgency, which they wouldn't have been. The proposed levee projects from President Bush's first term cited a 30 year program and I think over 10 billion dollars. The President cut their proposal down to 2 billion and limited them to only the most promising projects.

My own curiosity is in finding out how far along the projects were along before Katrina hit. If I'm right, none of them were really that far along because such projects take a lot of planning.

Exactly. From what I have been able to see, the entire region was simply not prepared for the worst impact, which did happen. Now we see the end result.

Neal Cavuto on Hannity today commented that blame could go back to Clinton, but also Bush 41. What I got from Cavuto's comments is this has been a known problem for some time but has not been a political priority for LA, New Orleans or the Fed.

And you know, it is even worse than that. We can JUSTIFY spending over $100 BILLION dollars a year to take care of illegal aliens, but we cannot afford to protect our cities. I have a real problem with Washington in this regard.

If that's true of Clinton in 98 wouldn't it be true of the following administration which hasn't done the project either?

Copy it before it "disappears, folks."

Good idea.

Can it be posted here?

Is a federal document allowed to be published here for discussion and debate?

I think having documented proof to negate the horrific blame Sidney, the girlish one, Blumenthal wrote is a very good idea.
