I can't help but think that shooting a few looters on day one and getting it well publicized would have taken care of most of this problem.

Imagine how different things in NO would be if all these thugs acted like real human beings and used their energy trying to help their fellow man, instead of preying on him.

Another person made a great point in this thread. These thugs are soon to be sent to refugee centers all over the place. Should get real interesting.

You mean, something like a government for the people and by the people?

My heart breaks for the victims, but I am amazed at the complete lack of self governance within the Super dome. Are there no good large men who could band together to control teen aged boys? I can't help but compare this to 9-11, where civilians came out of the woodwork to help each other.
