I have *no* idea what's up with the paper towel fetish.
[Sometimes I suspect that they envision themselves as wolves crouched in some wild forest, gleefully disembowelling a deer or something]...LOL!
Hubby's been enclosing the front porch as an art room for me for the last 2 weeks and we put the dogs out in the bedroom on the far side of the house so the hammering wouldn't upset Pookie.
Every day we'd come in to find that *somehow* they'd located and joyously shredded paper and paper towels even though none [to our knowledge] had been there to get hold of in the first place.
The place looked like they'd had a ticker-tape parade.
No because they themselves would not answer the breeder's phone calls.
The breeder only found out what was going on because the *second* family the cops had shoved her into were going batty due to Pookie's hysterics.
[yes, there *is* a covert "Ibizan Hound Underground Grapevine]...;)
The cops paid a fortune for her so you'd *think* the sheer amount of money involved would've prevented them from torturing her but it didn't.
[Her mom is the #1 Ibizan in Canada right now and won honors at Westminster among a zillion other accomplishments. Her father, brothers and sisters are famous show champions as well]
I think they just wanted a "status dog" and weren't prepared for the typical Ibizan Hound "way out there" personality quirks.

The sad thing is that Ibizans can't abide *any* abuse at all.
They're not like other dogs who, as the poets say, will suffer a kick or slap and still lick your hand.
They're -extremely- sensitive and any harsh treatment scars them mentally.
That is due to the fact that they are considered a "primitive" breed and the 'wildness' was never bred out of them like it was for most breeds.
That same "sensitivity" is a very valuable survival trait in wild canids.
Wolves wouldn't survive long if they didn't avoid whatever harmed them *once* much less repeatedly.
[and living with this crew is frequently like living amongst a pack of wiley coyotes or crafty jackals]...;D
Considering the past week I reckon her tormentors are just as miserable as she is, now.
Good.
It's the least I'd like to see done to them.
She's a mess and probably won't ever be entirely "right" but she's loved and cherished for who and how she is now and that's all that really matters.
The bright side is that all of the 3 Ibizans living in NO are out and safe...:)
