Given that most of us are Americans, I doubt Canada cares what we think.

What would be the difference between a liberal Nanny-State constitutional republic and a liberal Nanny-State constitutional monarchy except the portrait on your coins?

Personally, I'm for Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, BC, and Yukon joining the US. (I know I'm leaving a couple out, but I'm not as well versed in Canadian politics as I'd like to be.)

I have a house in southern Ontario and can tell you that Canada is just fine, thank you. The local and federal govts are courteous, efficient and get things done properly. My friends up there have nothing bad to say about the health care system, in fact, just the opposite; the law enforcement and court systems are fair and provide excellent service. The year I served as an exchange officer with the RCAF 27 years ago raised my appreciation of Canada and my recent experience in purchasing a house and spending time up there has done nothing to change that view.

Good luck, I wish you all the best, I really do.

What are you going to do if you did get most of Canada behind you and your government says "NO"?

There's a reason we have the second amendment to our constitution, and that would be it.

If were able to directly elect a President then we might be able to get a charismatic conservative like Ronald Reagan elected to institute some sweeping changes in Canada. Without electing an exectutive branch as is currently the case in Canada the entire nation must bow to the elected reps from Ontario and the rest of the nation has virtually no say.

A Republic similar to the one America once was? If so, good luck. Such a government is inherently "stand-offish" and should be so disconnected from the day to day lives of its citizens that they're willing to send representatives to mind the few decisions made by that government. Canada, it seems to me, isn't in favor of such a system. Neither is modern America, sadly.

I guess your friends are still healthy, I have known people to be on waiting lists very long time in Canada and have had to live with a great deal of pain. We pay very high taxes in Canada and our healthcare system allows us to live in pain for sometimes as long as two years because our politicians are so arrogant the will not allow Canadians to pay for health services out of their own pockets, yet it is OK for the government beauocrats to steal taxpayer dollars. Your friends must not watch the news much.

I'm 73 and the folks, my neighbors and church friends, in and near St. Thomas and London, Ontario are of similar age and have the malidies expected of our age group. Some are diabetic, some have chronic heart and arthritic conditions and the general run of transitory illness. They, and the local area clinics, hospitials and physicians, would contradict your opinion. In fact, a member of my family of all American citizens suffered a serious gastric emergency and he received excellent hospital and follow-up care in London.

my brother is diabetic and he has to pay for his insuline out of his own pocket even though without it he can't survive and he already pays his healthcare. If any of your family or friends need a non life threatening surgury they will be put on a very long waiting list. In the US waiting lists are unheard of. As for those who think that Canadian healthcare is so cheap they should realize when you add together healthcare premiums and taxes paid the US is getting a superior healthcare system with no waiting lists at a cheaper price.

Obviously all petitions need to be cleaned up before they are presented. If you let a bunch of liberals and pranksters define your movement than you are a fool. These pranksters will always try to discredit a serious movement that is why liberals have had such great success over the years they use childish foolishness to discredit serious movements and many right thinking hardworking people listen to the fools instead of the serious people trying to make change for the better.

OK I get it you are "serious" (three times yet)

many right thinking hardworking people listen to the fools instead of the serious people trying to make change for the better

Two reasons for that.
1. Democracy: "Hain't we got all the fools in town on our side? And hain't that a big enough majority in any town? " -- Mark Twain
2. People like feeling good. (except "liberals" see O'Rourke)
The Civil War was "the utterly memorable struggle between the Cavaliers (Wrong but Wromantic) and the Roundheads (Right but Repulsive)." but the Gripping Hand was Charles II was more likeable than Oliver Cromwell
{Three Reasons)
3. In the end it is the fools and jesters (Jonathan Swift. Voltaire, Mark Twain, P J O'Rourke) who reveal the truth by cutting away at the phoney earnestness that disguises bad causes

NEWSFLASH. It's "liberals" who are (self)defined as "serious people trying to make change for the better".

The only reason liberals are were thought of as "serious people trying to make change for the better" is because until the arrival of Rush on the scene Conservatives took the high road and allowed liberals to belittle their beliefs. Conservatives now know they have to get dirty and fight the liberal scumbags on their level in order to keep any kind of political power. I believe the masses no longer believe that liberals are serious people trying to make change for the better but rather they are seen by most as power hungry kooks trying to get their hands on tax money. I believe this change has occurred because conservatives have learned to defend themselves and go on the offensive.
