Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'
NewsMax.com ^ | Sept. 4, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

Just goes to show..the Peacr & Love DemoHippies
are nothing more than a thin veneer over ravening
facilely "civiliszed" pig beasts...and here we
have a prime example of their true nature coming
to the fore, in the face of adversity.

The president needs to address this TODAY -- DIRECTLY.

Yes, indeed. But he won't. I've said it before, the Dems are looting his political capital. And he's too---classy, too Christian, too high-road to fight back.
Everybody in the administration is taking their cue from him. To name two, Dr. Rice expressing empathy for the Black Caucus after their vicious attack on the President; Chertoff on Fox expressing understanding for Mayor Nagin when he slammed the federal govt for their response.

All this class and Christianity on the high road is going to end up with the Dems hijacking our vehicle and running us over on the high road in 2008. If not sooner.

Sorry the "old Grandmother" in me came down a bit hard on you!

Dare I say I laughed before I began to think about it!

Has the Admin responded yet?

I don't think Nagin is a bad guy, just way in over his head.

SO...let me get this straight. It sounds like the main stream NEWS is saying that this is all George W. Bush's fault. I'm going to stay tuned, and hope that the WHOLE truth floats to the top. Let it ALL float our for people to see what the welfare state has done to poor people, in keeping them from going to higher ground and look for a better life. Keep drinking those bourbons, under the bridge...and blame the President.

"Louisiana begged for federal help on Sunday in a formal request"

AFter rejecting it the Friday before!

There's plenty of blame to go around here! The primary problem was evacuation...President Bush and the National WEather Service BEGGED the mayor to evacuate, and he waited to long.. He didn't do as the evac plan said..to use buses to get the people out. Next problem, law and order...the WHOLE state National Guard should have been activated..not just 1700 of them. She rejected Pres. Bush's request to federalize the national Guard...if at THAT time it screwed up, he would be to blame. As it was, she was in charge of the National Guard.

And finally...the disaster affected an area the size of Great Britain. The evac plan of NO in NORMAL times would take THREE days....They evacuated virtually all by Saturday after the levees broke on MOnday with no communications, flooded streets, etc....FIVE days. Put it in perspective!

after times of disaster, things can be replaced, voters can't.

Instead of punching the president, she should be asking her governor why she refused mobilization on August 27 BEFORE the storm hit.

If ever someone needed to have a house dropped on her, surely it is Senator Landrieu.

But I suspect there are many in Louisiana who are saying to Mary, "You Go, Girl." Sad.

gotta stay fully armed

Don't forget to register your brain with the local authorities. A one week waiting period is required before thinking. :-)

Speaking as a very traditional 65 year old female, while I am sure there are women who could handle the job as president, I would not vote for a woman. Younger women might feel differently. I, personally, like having men in charge. Does that answer your question?
